A study of the activation of FeTi and Fe0.9 TiMn0.1

Abstract The activation of FeTi and Fe 0.9 TiMn 0.1 has been studied by means of XPS and reflection electron diffraction method. Initially FeTi has a surface Ti oxide layer. Heating FeTi in a vacuum to 200°C for some hours, the surface titanium is further oxidized, whereas the chemical state of iron remains almost unchanged. At high temperatures surface Ti oxide will be dissolved in the FeTi matrix under hydrogen pressure. When Fe 0.9 TiMn 0.1 is heated to 100°C in a vacuum, surface aggregation of Mn takes place and Mn and Ti are alloyed to form TiMn 1–2 phase. TiMn 1–2 phase is first hydrogenated and serves as a “window” of the substrate to absorb hydrogen, thus promoting the activation of Fe 0.9 TiMn 0.1 .

Novel Chemically Stable Er3+-Yb3+ Codopded Phosphate Glass for Ion-Exchanged Active Waveguide Devices

A novel Er3+-Yb3+ codoped phosphate glass, which combines good chemical durability with good spectroscopic properties, is developed for the ion-exchange process. The relevant properties of this glass are presented for reference in the design and modelling of ion-exchanged active waveguide devices. The weight-loss rate of this glass is 1.45×10−5 g⋅cm−2⋅h−1 in boiling water, which is comparable to that of Kigres Q-246 silicate glass. The emission cross section of Er3+ in this glass is calculated to be 0.72×10−20 cm2 using the McCumber theory. It is found that a planar waveguide with three modes at 632.8 nm is readily realized in this glass from our primary ion-exchange experiments.

Upconversion Luminescence of Ho3+/Yb3+ Codoped Oxyfluoride Silicate Glass Ceramics

制备了Ho3+/Yb3+共掺的氧氟硅酸盐玻璃,根据玻璃样品的差热分析(DTA)进行微晶化处理,测试了Ho3+/Yb3+共掺微晶玻璃的X射线衍射(XRD)图谱、透射电镜(TEM)谱、吸收光谱和上转换发光光谱.根据Scherrer公式计算了CaF2微晶的平均晶粒尺寸,并与TEM谱进行比对;利用晶体生长动力学理论研究了纳米CaF2晶粒的生长特性,获得纳米CaF2晶体生长动力学方程;研究了.微晶玻璃中Ho3+离子的上转换发光特性;分析了微晶玻璃上转换发光机制.研究结果表明氧氟硅酸盐微晶玻璃是一种良好的上转换基质材料.
