Characteristics of transmission for electric motor

As the development of electric vehicle, the power of motor takes more and more important position in the total powertrain. Because the characteristic of motor is totally different from combustion engine, so their requirements to transmission are different too. The development of electric vehicle is limited by traditional transmission which is suitable only for combustion engine. The requirement of vehicle, the different of characteristic between engine and motor, and the characteristic of demanded power of daily driving cycle are analysed in this paper. Compared with engine, the requirements of motor to transmission are less gears, more torque tolerance capacity in input shaft and more efficiency.

Research on control strategy and simulation analysis for Dual Motor Powertrain configuration with Gasoline Direct Injection engine

The dual motor powertrain (DMP) configuration is composed of gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine, two motors(one motor connects with input shaft of transmission, namely I-motor, another motor connects with output shaft of transmission, namely II-motor), automatic mechanical transmission (AMT), battery package and hybrid control system. The DMP hybrid system has the functions of engine start/stop with GDI, electric driving, only engine driving, boost, series, regenerative braking, it has 30%-50% improvement of fuel consumption and reduce more than 50% exhaust gas emission. A hybrid passenger car equipped the hybrid system was analyzed in this paper, and the control strategy and simulation were analyzed. The simulation results show the fuel economy can be improved more than 40%. The research results can supply reference for development of hybrid vehicle in next step.
