We report a simple and automated headspace gas chromatographic technique for the determination of the softening point of rosin. A lumpy solid of rosin is added into a headspace vial, then an automated stepwise temperature ramping and headspace sampling was performed at each temperature stage and gas chromatography measurement. By plotting the gas chromatography signal for an impurity in rosin versus the temperature, a transition point (corresponding to the rosin softening point) was determined. The results show that the present method has a good precision (<0.76%), and good accuracy (the relative differences compared to the ring and ball method wasxa0<4.0%). The present method is simple, accurate, and automated. It is practical and suitable for testing the softening of rosin and derivatives in mills.

The moisture content of cigarette tobacco directly affects the smoking quality and storage period of cigarettes. The influence of the sealing property of cigarette packets on the moisture of the cigarette was studied, and a solution to improve the sealing property of the small package was provided. At the same time, the standard boundary for judging the packaging tightness of cigarette packets is calculated. Under different temperature and humidity environment, the air flow rate of the same packing box is higher than that of the 30-40mL/min interval. Improvement measures were applied to determine the packing seal value index of soft package cigarettes under certain conditions

Hysteresis characteristics of grain-oriented electrical steel were studied through the hysteresis loop. Existing hysteresis fitting simulation methods were summarized, and new Fe-3% Si grain-oriented electrical steel hysteresis loop model was proposed. Undetermined coefficients of the magnetic field intensity and magnetic flux density were determined by both the fixed angle method and the least squares method, and the hysteresis loop model was validated with high fitting degree by experimental data.

Power loss of Fe-3%Si grain-oriented silicon steel was measured after ball scribing with different spacing using a self-designed tool. Three different sections of power loss, including hysteresis loss, abnormal loss, and eddy current loss, were measured and calculated, respectively. The loss variation and ratio were analyzed based on the experimental data. At 1.0 T, hysteresis loss of tested steel with scribing spacing of 8 mm descends by 8.2% compared to samples without scribing, which is similar to the total loss variation, and abnormal loss descends by 16.8%. At 1.0 T, hysteresis loss ratio of the steel with scribing spacing of 16 mm ascends from 55.7% to 57.9%, and eddy current loss increases from 17.4% to 24.1%, while abnormal loss descends from 26.9% to 23.7%. The experimental results show that the reduction of power loss after scribing is mainly due to decreasing of hysteresis loss and abnormal loss.

Coercive force of grain-oriented electrical steel applied in cigarette machines is tested by a novel NDT method in which Barkhausen noise was applied. Linear relationship between coercive force and Barkhausen noise of conventional and high-permeability electrical steel was built and the precision of the model was verified. Experimental results show that the coercive force is linearly related to Barkhausen noise. The variation of coercive force with magnetic induction intensity increase was also interpreted in view of magnetic domain changing process, and the correlation formula derivation of MBN and coercive force domain wall was illustrated as well.
