This paper analyzes the limitations of simple network management protocol (SNMP) which adopts the centralized service model, discusses the basic idea of AgentX frame and the agent’s operating principle, and has a brief analysis on AgentX protocol packets. Based on my experiences, the paper describes the implementation of MasterAgent/ SubAgent based on AgentX communication protocol, using the related source-packet.

High-capacity OLT equipments are widely used in modern communication network. Among the communication equipments, realization of alarm function has an important research significance and wide application prospect. The article simply introduces the demand of alarm of OLT devices and simple network management protocol SNMP and explains the method of realizing alarm information by using SNMP trap. It also introduces the construction of trap message and explains the process and action of network management system after receiving trap information in detail, as a result, realizes the alarm design of high-capacity OLT equipment.

Ethernet ring networks are used widely recently, and the research on the ring protection switching is carried out. Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) was the first technology to control ring networks to avoid the storm. Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) is an upgraded version of STP[1]. RSTP can provide shorter convergence time than STP. Ethernet Automatic Protection switching (EAPS) is designed for a single ring topology [2]. The convergence time of EAPS is below 50ms and EAPS can meet the real-time requirements and high-reliability requirements of network services.G.8032 is a standardized scheme for achieving sub-50ms service protection in ring topologies which is recommended by ITU-T[3]. This paper intelligent Ethernet ring protection technologes about Spanning Tree Protocol, RFC3619 and G.8032 .These technologies appear in different times, and have their advantages and disadvantages. This article outlines these Ethernet ring protection switching technology and explains their basal principles.

Constructing the network experimental platform is one of the effective assessment methods of digital substation communication network. It is introduced in great detail that “Common Network and Shared Port” is the special feature of intelligent substation communication network nowadays. It is a simulation technology based on the network experimental platform and sum up some credible, quantitative and accurate methods. Because they are need to adapt to the development of the digital substation communication network. Specially, the situation of different network architectures and the unpredictable performance have been changed in the near future. As a new generation of intelligent substation communication, this method can provide strong support for network constructions.

With the development of smart power grid technology, EPON has become a popular communications technology both in power distribution and utilization automation. The article analyses several communication path protection methods of EPON system, then introduces the development of a dual PON-MAC ONU for such application, both hardware and software design are discussed. TU-T has recommended a standardized scheme for achieving sub-50ms service protection in ring topologies through Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ERPS) specified in G.8032 recommendation[. ERPS provides a means to reliably achieve carrier-class network requirements for Ethernet topologies forming a closed loop. This article outlines an Ethernet ring protection switching mechanism and explains how its automatic protection switching (APS) protocol works. In addition, this article illustrates a sample scenario with failure and recovery.
