Abstract Reaction of diphenyl disulfide and aryl iodides or diiodides at high temperature affords phenyl aryl sulfides or bis(phenylthio)arenes in good yields. Thermolysis of dialkyl disulfide with aryl iodides yields only diaryl sulfides.
