The Key Issues and Considerations of Buckling Restrained Braces in Seismic Applications

Wen Lu Wen; Li Chao Zhou; Zhong Tao

The damping mechanism of buckling restrained braces is clear, the effect is significant, safe, reliable and economical, it can be used in structures that have different seismic requirements and seismic intensity. It can be used for single-storey buildings, high-rise buildings. It has not only been applied to new buildings, but also have been used for seismic reinforcement and shock repair of the built construction, so it has broad application prospects.

Experimental Analysis on Composite Wall Plate Cracking of Steel Structure in Yunnan Area

Jian Wei Shen; Zhong Tao; Wen Zheng Yu; Ying Zhu

the new containment system for steel structure of calcium silicate composite wallboard connection technology, through a lot of special experiments and research, combined with domestic and foreign research results, interior and exterior wall crack causes and treatment are discussed in this paper. Experiment shows that by adopting reasonable construction measures can effectively reduce the generation of crack, reach the purpose of heat preservation, waterproof, windproof, and sound insulation of palisade structure.

Vertical Dynamics Analysis on Evaluation Standardof Ballastless Track Damping Effect

Zeng Wu; Jie Qing Li; Zhong Tao

Vibration and noise reduction was the trend of ballastless track, however, evaluation of different types of damping effect of the track was not easy to achieve. The orbit of the traditional vertical displacement of the components, to evaluate the damping effect of the acceleration was not accurate when the difference between the track structure larger. From the principle of energy conservation, the flexibility to select a long pillow, long pillow vertical, orbital plate of three ballastless track fragments, respectively, without the establishment of a vehicle - track couplin model, the vertical acceleration, the vertical track of the various components of displacement, acceleration, maximum kinetic energy was calculated out when train speed was 250km/h by numerical simulation methods. By analyzing the relationship between their body vertical acceleration and found that the largest track the existence of kinetic energy correlation between the changes in, made with the greatest kinetic energy damping effect as the track of one of the evaluation criteria, and it was easy to implement.

The Calculation and Judgment of Critical Connections of the Outer-Shell Connections

Xin Li Cao; Zhong Tao; Hao Ming Cai

Under seismic action, it is easy for the traditional steel nodes to produce a greater degree of brittle failure. The assembly of steel outer annual node after its manufacture in the factory reduces the shear deformation of the structure, and improves the rigidity of the node. The destruction of the structure occurs mainly in some critical parts. By making a calculation of critical connections in this article, we can make the structure more secure.

Calculation and Analysis of a Tall Building Seismic Isolation Design

Hao Ming Cai; Zhong Tao; Xin Li Cao

In this paper, we calculate and analyze a tall building project of seismic isolation design. It is a frame-shear wall structure, which has twelve stories on the ground. And then, we use the time history analysis method to calculate the isolation structure. It is found that isolation equipment can extend the period of the structure, reduce the story drift in frequency earthquake. And it also can control the response of the structure. In rare earthquake, the story drift can meet the demand of unclasped; the displacement and force of the equipment can satisfy the demand of the code for seismic design of building.

The Seismic Reinforcement Measures of through Type Timber Frame Joint Based on the Earthquake Damage Survey

Ling Xu Li; Zhong Tao; Liang Bin Qin; Mo Zhu; Rui Tian; Xu Duan

Via the field investigation about farm building built on rural areas after the 2009, Ms=6.0 Yaoan earthquake in Yunnan province, China, the seismic damage of raw-soil structure and wooden structure have been put forward. Additionally, combined with the earthquake damage survey about the 1996 Lijiang and 2007 Ninger earthquake in Yunnan province, the seismic reinforcement schemes are proposed and appropriate costs are analyzed.

The Performance Analysis of Calcium Silicate Composited Wall's Impact Resistance

Ming Ming Chen; Zhong Tao; Hen Min Zhang; Wen Zheng Yu

This paper introduces the impact experiment and an engineering application of the new composited wall which composed of calcium silicate composited board. Clearly defines the impact resistance of the wall in different connection as interior walls and exterior walls through observing the wall’s changes in the number of 5 times or even up to 50 times impact (10 times of the national standard). It can be known from the experiment that long wall has large vibration but good integrity. The window wall may fracture easily and is not able to meet the minimum standard requirements of impact resistance when the width is small. It needs to take reinforce measures.

Research on the Influencing Factors of Friction Coefficient between PTFE and Stainless-Steel of Sliding Isolation Bearings

Cong Zeng; Zhong Tao; Jun Feng Bai

The main factors that influent the friction coefficient between PTFE and stainless-steel of sliding isolation bearings (SIB) are introduced in this paper. The positive pressure, sliding velocity, air temperature and lubricant all played important roles to the friction coefficient of SIB. By means of experimental investigation, the friction coefficient of SIB is indicated, and according to the test data, estimation formula of friction coefficient is regressed. Furthermore, relationship between friction coefficient, positive pressure and the use of lubricant are preliminarily validated.

Applied Research of the Steel Frame-Shear Wall System in the Primary and Secondary Schools

Mo Zhu; Zhong Tao; Min Zhang; Ling Xu Li

Steel frame - shear wall structure of the teaching building has been by the software PKPM respectively in the design basic acceleration of ground motion of 7~9 degrees, include story drift, component stress, overturning moment and the amount of steel. Comparative analysis shows that the main factors affect the stress ratio is related to the sectional dimension, and has little to do with the intensity. By calculating the overturning moment, it proved that in 9 degree 0.4g and 8 degree 0.3g, the frame with shear wall structure combined with a relatively close. The structure not only meeting the earthquake disaster prevention requirements of the teaching building in highly seismic region, but also the structure has good economic applicability.

Finite Element Analysis on Seismic Behavior of Typical Residence in Yunnan

Dan Wang; Zhong Tao; Ling Xu Li

Based on the actual inspection to typical Stilt timberwork residence in Puer of Yunnan. This paper find that many places still inadequate, of which the most outstanding part were lack of plinth , the defects of support in the node , the lack of beams and columns ,etc. A contrast analysis of maximum sheers in every storeys and storey drift are made between unreinforced and reinforced slopes by using the finite element software of etabs , which verified the rationality of the strengthening scheme.
