In view of the absence of domestic meter for measuring the intensity of pressing pattern on cigarette paper, a meter was designed based on machine vision, which was composed of an illuminating system, an image acquisition system and control software. The illuminating system adopted a ring light source of low angle, and the image acquisition system adopted an imported industrial camera and lens. The control softwares functions included pressing patterns orientation recognition, image rotation, statistical projection and pressing pattern intensity calculation. Comparative experiment results showed that the intensity of pressing pattern on cigarette paper measured by the designed meter was significantly correlated to that measured by imported meters of the same type, and stability test results indicated that the designed meter featured better stability.

In order to study the factors affecting the design of low ignition propensity(LIP)cigarette,cigarette samples were made of the same tobacco compositions and wrapped with ordinary cigarette paper or banded cigarette paper,the band diffusivity,full length burn rate and deliveries of mainstream smoke were determined,the results showed that: while keeping other conditions unchanged,1) the ratio of full length burn of LIP cigarette increased by more than 60%,the deliveries of tar,nicotine and CO decreased by 4.0%,6.5% and 6.1%,respectively,when the band diffusivity increased by 0.22 cm/s;2) the ratio of full length burn of LIP cigarette increased by about 20%,the deliveries of tar,nicotine and CO decreased by 9.3%,7.9% and 12.7%,respectively,when the content of combustion improver increased by 0.8%;3) at higher combustion improver content,the width/space of band obviously affected the ratio of full length burn but not the deliveries of mainstream smoke.

In order to determine the abrasive wear on cigarette packing film,a method was proposed based on machine vision technology.A friction coefficient meter was modified to simulate the abrasive wear on the film,and a digital camera was used to collect the image of worn film.All the characteristic data relevant to the film image were obtained through edge contour extracting,binary processing,image segmentation and denoise processing,and the degree of abrasive wear was calculated by an image processing software.The results indicated that this method was accurate,stable and reliable for determining the abrasive wear of cigarette packing film with the measurement error of 0.1%.

By analyzing the correlation of the parameters of tensile speed,length and width of test specimen with longitudinal tensile strength,elongation rate and fracture time of cigarette paper,the effects of different parameters on the results of mechanical property test of cigarette paper and the controlling factors of improving the consistency of test results of longitudinal tensile strength and elongation rate were discussed.The results showed that: 1) in the range of 5-30 mm/min,the tensile strength of cigarette paper increased and the elongation rate somewhat decreased,while the fracture time decreased significantly with the increase of tensile speed;2) in the range of 100-260 mm,test length negatively correlated with tensile strength and elongation rate,while linearly positively correlated with fracture time;3) for ensuring the consistency of test results,tensile speed should be set in the range of 18-20 mm/min,and the error of specimen width should be within ±0.1mm
