Study of rolling bed spray granulation

Abstract In this paper, the changes in granule size distribution and the characteristic values of the distribution, and the specific granule number are shown as a function of the relative amount of liquid in batch-type rolling bed atomized granulation. In some experiments, the size distribution of the granules is determined by direct measurements. The accuracy of sieve analyses as well as the applicability of log—normal distribution functions for the description of measured distributions are investigated and proved. The most characteristic index number of the processes taking place during granulation is the specific particle number or numerousness and the manner in which it changes. Depending on the characteristics, conclusions can be drawn concerning the process and the rate of granule build-up.
