Cysticercosis cerebri involving the lateral ventricle is very rare. Two cases with such localization are presented. One of the patients, with occlusion of the foramen of Monro, was successfully treated by operation. A larval form in the lateral ventricle was revealed incidentally at autopsy in the second patient after rupture of a large basilar artery aneurysm.

Solitary Brain Metastasis in Non–Small Cell Lung Cancer—Long-term Survival: Case Report and Review of Literature

Zoran Milenković; Milan H. Rancic; Ratko S. Ilic; Jelena Stamenovic

Early detection of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) even with single brain metastasis might be a good chance for longterm survival and good quality of life. We present a case with a NSCLC in stage I with a solitary brain metastasis who was treated surgically. He lived l3 years after complete surgical treatment and died due to brain stroke without any sign of remission of the underlying disease. Reviewing the available literature for NSCC patients and single brain metastasis who lived ⩾ 10 years it has been found that the preponderence of lung adenocarcinomas as well as metachronous onset of brain metastasis was evident. The majority of patients received postoperative WBRT. In most cases the patients were in stage I and had no lymph nodes invasion; all lesions were surgically resectable and all patients had a good performance status.
