A coherent framework for understanding critical success factors of ICT project environment

A'ang Subiyakto; Abd. Rahman Ahlan

Although there has been significant research on information and communication technology (ICT) project success, but there are still gaps around this field. Thus, further understanding to ensure the level of ICT project success is still required in both theory and practice. The ultimate aim of this study is develops a coherent critical success factors (CSFs) framework for helping ICT project managers to deal with the complexity of project dimensions which have influenced the shaping of project success. The four consideration points in this framework development are: first, based on a comprehensive success definition as guidance for measuring the critical connection between the success criteria level and the CSFs level; second, integrating coherently four project dimensions for encouraging the high content validity; third, presenting the alternating critical connection between the project success definition and the CSFs determination; lastly, adopting the project stakeholder perceptions from multiple levels of an ICT project organizations environment. However, it is a proposition concept, but this proposed CSF framework is reasonable in the context of the ICT project success improvement.

Validation of Information System Project Success Model: A Focus Group Study

A'ang Subiyakto; Abdul Rahman Ahlan; Sopiyanshah Jaya Putra; Mira Kartiwi

This article illustrates how influential arguments were used to validate an information system (IS) project success model using the inductive-qualitative method rather than continual hypothesis testing. The purpose of the study was to explore the validity and feasibility of the model using a focus group study (FGS) to respond that many IS scholars were under more and more pressure in their research model validations. Most of them claimed that the quantitative validation was only the method to validate their models. Although they may have performed the qualitative validation, only a few of them realized that they have applied this method. This article will be valuable, especially to prove, describe, and illuminate the context and condition where the model validation had been performed qualitatively before the scholar carried out quantitatively the validation. The results represent the four model validation points regarding the modeling process, methodological aspect, and resource availability of the research and its implementation recommendations. A good reference point for IS scholars whose goal to validate their model feasibilities, especially using the qualitative validation method.

This paper presents a pilot study to validate quantitatively an information system IS project success model. In terms of its continual research, the model was evaluated qualitatively using focus group study FGS conducted earlier in the research. This study was also aimed to explain an IS project success performance and its factors that affect the project implementation in the sampled institution. Despite that the findings and its recommendations can only be considered in the context of the pilot study, this research had highlighted the complementary, completeness, and comprehensiveness of the model validation through mixed-methods approach. Such findings had become the main contribution of this study, among others, that is to fill the gap in the literature of the lack of comprehensive detail of model validation through mixed-methods.

The quantity versus equity is one of the main contextual constraints of the educational world in Indonesia. It is why the scholarship program may one of the chose solutions by many institutions in this country for solving the problem. This case study was conducted to develop the decision support system which can cover the manual process in the sampled institutions using TOPSIS method. As an education support costs assistance, the program is awarded to those who entitled to receive, especially by classification, quality, and competence of the grantee. Referring to the observation study, besides the applicant number, its selection process has also been conducted manually. The result of this study presented the applicant ranks on the weight basis by using seven determined criteria.

Assessment of a questionnaire is one of the significant stages of the information system (IS) survey studies, especially which adopt the instrument from the previous works. It is related to what the new questionnaire is appropriate to the studies. Besides, it is clear that the IS research fields have been growing since the early era and the contextual differences among the industrial sectors and countries, the methodological questionnaire assessment literature also relatively seems on the limited number. Accordingly, studies on this topic are still indispensable. The purposes of this study were to assess the psychometric properties of the end-user computing satisfaction (EUCS) questionnaire and to understand the instrument by considering the responsiveness and cognition of the respondents. The objectives were to perform the assessments based on the respondent perceptions and the researcher perspectives. The population was the users of an Academic Information System (AIS) in the sampled university in Indonesia. The samples were collected using the blended survey. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and brainstorming techniques were implemented sequentially in the analysis stage. The results revealed 8 of the 38 questions were recommended to be rejected. The study may not contribute theoretically to the field; but it may share the practical and methodological points of the EUCS questionnaire assessment.

The purpose of this study is to download yelidiki-variable relationship between the variables that influence the success of E-CGC system at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah an d also provide solutions and recommendations to the institution users to be taken into consideration for the development of the next system. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive technique of non-random sampling for sample collection to be determined in advance as much as 66 respondents in the sample. The data obtained from these respondents further processed using statistical accounts PLS (Partial Least Square) with menggunkaan SmartPLS application. M odel to the success of the system that is used as a benchmark in this study is a model successive system proposed by DeLone and McLean (2003). The results of studies in which seven of the nine hypotheses received indicating that the application E-CGC implemented on employee and leader in UIN Syarif Hidayatullah runs almost in line with the depiction of the theory of information system success McL ean and DeLone. The existence of two relationships that are not confirmed in the study can be a space improvements for application development E-CGC. Researchers also recommend their attention on p there is an increase in customer satisfaction, because according to the model simplifications concluded from the study it appears that customer satisfaction is the most dominating factor in determining the success of the system in case of application of E-CGC at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah.
