Corrosion Inhibition of mild steel in Acid Media by Alpina galinga Extract

S. Ananth Kumar; A. Sankar; S. Rameshkumar

The corrosion inhibition nature of Alpina galinga extract for the corrosion of mild steel in 0.5 N H2SO4 was investigated using weight loss, electrochemical impedance and potentiodynamic polarization methods . The results revealed that Alpina galinga extract acts as a corrosion inhibitor in 0.5 N H2SO4 medium. The inhibition efficiency increased with an increase in inhibitor concentration. The inhibition is attributed to adsorption of the inhibitor on the steel surface.

The Electrochemical Synthesis and Corrosion Inhibitive Nature of Di N-Propyl Malonic Acid Doped Poly N -Methyl Aniline Coating On Stainless Steel

S. Ananth Kumar; A. Sankar; M. Kumaravel; S. Rameshkumar

Electrochemical synthesis of poly N-methyl aniline (PNMA) was achieved on Teflon coated cylindrical stainless steel electrodes with base diameter 2mm . N-methyl aniline in di N-propyl malonic acid was polymerized on the surface of stainless steel using cyclic voltametry technique. Adherent and red polymer films were obtained on the electrodes.. The corrosion inhibitive performance of PNMA+DPM , coated electrodes were investigated in 0.5 N H2SO4 solutions by potentiodynamic polarization technique and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

Asparagus racemosus stem extract as corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in acid medium.

S.Ananth Kumar; A. Sankar; S. Rameshkumar; Murali Vijayan

The effect of addition of Asparagus racemosus stem extract on the corrosion of steel in 0.5M H2SO4 acid has been studied by weight loss measurements, potentiodynamic polarization and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The inhibition efficiency was found to increase with inhibitors content to attain 51.11% and 91.66% Asparagus racemosus stem extract and 25ppm TBAB respectively. Data obtained from EIS studies were analyzed to determinate the model inhibition process through appropriate equivalent circuit models. Inhibition efficiency E (%) obtained from the various methods is in good agreement.
