Correlações entre caracteres quantitativos em milho pipoca

Knowledge of the size of the association among traits of interest is of fundamental importance in a breeding program to allow genetic progress. The genotypic, phenotypic and environment correlation were studied among quantitative traits of popcorn maize. Nine popcorn maize genotypes were assessed. A randomized complete block design with eight replications was used. The UEL ZP, UEL SI and UEL PAP. genotypes which had greatest expansion capacity (27.50; 27.15 and 24.20, respectively), also had the greatest values for the number of grains per volume (244.75; 248.50 and 248.75, respectively). The expansion capacity correlated positively with the popcorn size and with number of grains per volume and negatively with plant yield. The traits plant yield, and total ear weight showed positive phenotypic and genotypic correlation that permits the choice of the trait that always suits at the breeding objectives.

Análise combinatória de populações de milho pipoca em topcrosses

The objective of this work was to evaluate the heterotic potential of 14 popcorn populations through topcrosses. In the 1997/1998 crop year, topcrosses hybrids were obtained as a result of crosses between the populations and the tester, which was composed of an equal mixture of seeds from all 14 populations. The populations and the hybrids were evaluated in field, in a randomized block design, with three replications. The estimates for genetic parameters and the topcrosses variance analyses were made. Based on the results of yield and popping expansion of the experiments, the following populations were selected for the syntheses of composite: UEL SI, UEL PAP, UEL ZP, UEL PP, CMS 43 and RS 20. This broad composite is the most promising for use as base populations in breeding programs.

Formação dos profissionais das áreas de ciências agrárias em segurança do trabalho rural

Neste trabalho, objetivou-se verificar se os futuros profissionais que serao engajados ao mercado de trabalho tem recebido orientacoes e treinamentos para atuar na questao da seguranca no trabalho rural e estabelecer relacoes entre a formacao profissional e a informacao levada aos produtores rurais. Foi utilizado como instrumento de pesquisa um questionario aplicado a 209 produtores/trabalhadores rurais, 156 discentes formandos, da area de Ciencias Agrarias, da Universidade Estadual de Londrina e 75 discentes do Colegio Agricola Estadual Manoel Ribas, Apucarana (PR). A coleta dos dados foi realizada nos meses de junho, julho e agosto de 2006. Os resultados mostraram que tanto os produtores/trabalhadores rurais como os futuros profissionais nao estao conscientizados com relacao a seguranca no trabalho rural. Portanto, tornar a disciplina Seguranca e Higiene do Trabalho Rural obrigatoria nos curriculos dos cursos da area de Ciencias Agrarias, colocar em pratica a prevencao de acidentes ocupacionais no meio rural e realizar uma reciclagem continua dos profissionais que atuam na area, por meio de treinamentos e do acesso a informacoes atualizadas que poderiam se apresentar como alternativas para a prevencao de acidentes na area rural.
