Objective: The study aimed to investigate the repercussions of the Program for Education through Work for Health (PET-Health) in the training of students in the health area. Methods: This study is exploratory-descriptive, with a qualitative approach. Twenty students participating in the PET-Health scheme participated in the study. The data collection technique was the semi-structured interview and thematic content analysis was used for analysis of the data. Results: The data indicated that the PET-Health is a program which facilitates the search for comprehensiveness and allows the articulation of theory and practice between the students, the health service and the community, which is essential for re-orienting health training. Conclusion: It is concluded that the challenge centers on the critical-reflective training of the professionals in the area of health, indicating new behaviors and attitudes. 1 Nurse. The scope of this paper is to ascertain the perception of community leadership, health professionals and users regarding citizenship status and the enhancement of the healthcare conditions of families belonging to a vulnerable community. This is an exploratory study of a qualitative nature, guided by theory based on data. Data were collected between July and December 2009, by means of interviews with four community health leaders, a team of eight family health team professionals and twelve health users. The codification of the data resulted in the following categories: Understanding the social conditions, the political conditions, the environmental conditions and the health conditions of families in a vulnerable community. The conclusions reached were, that if on the one hand the social security and health policies made it possible to reduce poverty and local inequalities, on the other hand they do not ensure the requisite enhancement of citizenship or even the improvement of health conditions.

Objective: To assess levels of anxiety and salivary alpha-amylase in children and its association with the use of informative or aversive behavioral management techniques during restorative dental procedures. Material and Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed with 69 children aged 4-12 years submitted to restorative dental treatment. The level of anxiety of patients was verified by means of the Modified Venham Picture Test and levels of salivary alpha-amylase were measured before and after the restorative procedure. The behavioral management techniques used during the dental procedure were registered. Associations between variables were analyzed using the chi-square test, considering statistically significant associations with p ≤ 0.05. Results: Salivary alpha-amylase showed high and moderate levels prior to dental procedure in 47 children (68.1%). Variables gender and behavioral management techniques were not associated with anxiety, as measured by VPT and salivary alpha-amylase activity. However, younger children showed higher levels of alpha-amylase (p = 0.001). Conclusion: The sample revealed that the visit to the dentist has generated anxiety, manifested by behavioral and physiological changes, especially in children under 72 months; thus, no association between anxiety and the different management techniques was observed.

Preventive and therapeutic care designed to mental health represents an important resource in promoting human development at different times during life cycle. The profile of the users and the operational system of a Mental Health Clinic in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul were investigated with the purpose of knowing the population assisted and the service offered. The design was a case study and data were collected from medical records of 466 users who attended the service for a month and through participant observation. Most users are women (74.7%) between 25 and 59 years old (76.7%). The main complaints were symptoms related to mood alternation and anxiety. The most prevalent diagnoses were Mood Disorders (44.4%) and Disorders Related to Stress and Somatoform Disorders (34.1%). Most users have been in treatment for more than four years, which suggests the permanence of an intervention leads to chronic cases, helping to make users dependent on and rooted in service. As an alternative, we emphasize the importance to invest in prevention and promotion of mental health, teamwork skills and strengthening the service network.
