Ocorrência de Lysiphlebus testaceipes (Cresson) (Hymenoptera: Aphidiidae) parasitando pulgões (Hemiptera: Aphididae), em trigo em Medianeira, PR

This paper records the occurrence of Lysiphlebus testaceipes (Cresson) attacking aphids in wheat plantation in Medianeira, in the west region of Paraná State, Brazil. This microhymenoptera was introduced and released by Embrapa Trigo, from 1978 to 1992 in the wheat production region at the state of Rio Grande do Sul, what suggests that individuals of this species may show high dispersal ability.

O objetivo deste estudo consistiu na avaliacao da qualidade das aguas do rio Alegria e seu afluente rio Bolinha, atraves da analise dos parâmetros microbiologicos, na area urbana de Medianeira, PR, Brasil. Nesse municipio, as medidas de saneamento basico nao se diferenciam dos demais municipios do Brasil, pois as acoes antropicas refletem sobre a qualidade da agua de seus mananciais, principalmente, pelo despejo direto de esgotos domesticos e industriais, a ocupacao desordenada do solo e a ausencia de mata ciliar. Realizaram-se oito amostragens dos rios referidos, no perimetro urbano quanto a presenca de coliformes totais e fecais. Verificou-se a presenca de coliformes totais em todas as amostras e em sete delas confirmou se a presenca de coliformes fecais, sendo que nos pontos de amostragem B e E registraram-se os mais altos niveis desse grupo de bacterias. Tal fato exige a tomada de medidas em conformidade com a legislacao ambiental, que preconiza o tratamento de esgotos, a recomposicao da mata ciliar e a desocupacao das areas de preservacao permanente. Palavras-chave : coliformes totais; esgoto domestico e industrial; qualidade da agua MICROBIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF WATER FROM ALEGRIA RIVER AND ITS AFFLUENT BOLINHA RIVER OF MEDIANEIRA, PARANA STATE, BRAZIL. ABSTRACT The objective of this study aimed to evaluate the quality of the waters of the Alegria river and its affluent identified as Bolinha river, through the microbiological analysis parameters in the urban area of the city of Medianeira , Parana state, Brazil. In this city, the basic sanitation procedures do not differ from other Brazilian municipalities, therefore the anthropic actions reflect mainly the quality of its water sources, through the direct ousting of domestic and industrial sewers, the disordered occupation of the ground and the absence of ciliar bush. Eight samples of these rivers in the urban perimeter had been investigated for the presence of total and feacal coliforms. The presence of total coliformes in all the samples were observed as the confirmation of the presence of feacal coliforms in seven samples. It also was observed that at the B and E sampling points, the highest levels of this group of bacteria were registered. Such occurrence demands measures in conformity with the environmental legislation, that praises the treatment of sewers, resetting of the ciliar bush, and the unoccupation of the permanent preservation areas. Natural biological control of aphids (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in a wheat field by parasitoids (Hymenoptera, Aphidiinae) in Medianeira, PR, Brazil

Aphids constitute one of the main phytosanitary problems in wheat crops in southern Brazil, and are the target of a biological control program with parasitoids implemented in Brazil since the 1970’s. In spite of the initial success quickly achieved, no recent study exists for the west region of the State of Parana that evaluates the current status of aphid biological control; therefore, this was the object of the present work. Weekly surveys were conducted in a commercial wheat crop in Medianeira, PR. The aphids were identified and, when parasitization was verified, they were analyzed until emergence of the parasitoid. The population of aphids did not reach the mean value of 1 insect/tiller, with predominance of Rhopalosiphum padi (53%), followed by Sitobium avenae and R. maidis (19.5%) and Metopolophium dirhodum (8%), which were verified mostly from the wheat elongation stage. The parasitoids were observed starting at the wheat flowering season (about 3 months after planting), and only two species of braconids, Lysiphlebus testaceipes (97.3%) and Diaeretiella rapae (2.7%), were identified, whose population growth followed the aphids population of, keeping the same trend after the number of aphids in the field was reduced.
