There are various fertilizer products in the markets for farmers to be used for farming activities. Fertilizers are a supplements supply to soil nutrients, build up soil fertility in order to support plant nutrients and increase plants productivity. Fertilizers consists of nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, micro vitamins and other complex nutrient in farming systems that commonly used in agricultural activities to improve quantity and quality of harvest. Recently, market demand for fertilizer has been increased dramatically; furthermore, fertilizer companies are required to develop strategies to know about consumer preferences towards several issues. Consumer preference depends on consumer needs selected by subject (individual) that is measured by utilization from several things that market offered and as final decision on purchase process. West Java is one of province as the main producer of agricultural products and automatically is one of the potential consumer’s fertilizers on farming activities. This research is a case study in nine districts in West Java province, i.e., Bandung, West Bandung, Bogor, Depok, Garut, Indramayu, Majalengka, Cirebon and Cianjur. The purpose of this research is to describe the attributes on consumer preference for fertilizers. The multi-dimensional scaling method is used as quantitative method to help visualize the level of similarity of individual cases on a dataset, to describe and mapping the information system and to accept the goal. The attributes in this research are availability, nutrients content, price, form of fertilizer, decomposition speed, easy to use, label, packaging type, color, design and size of packaging, hardening process and promotion. There are tendency towards two fertilizer brand have similarity on availability of products, price, speed of decomposition and hardening process.There are various fertilizer products in the markets for farmers to be used for farming activities. Change in food consumption pattern in Indonesia is believed to be one of the main push factors of structural change in horticulture products mainly in fruit and vegetable consumption. In the side of supply, crop diversification done by farmers is considered as a logical reaction to the increasing demand for these products and is expected to be able to contribute to income and poverty alleviation. The objective of this study is to identify what physical and nonphysical assets and access (social and economic characteristics) determine farmers to adopt crop diversification. This paper uses descriptive and quantitative analysis to answer the research questions. Primary data were collected in 2013 from direct interview with 960 farmers spread in 96 villages in Java, Indonesia. The result shows that age, the availability of labor force in the family, the number of dependents, having any means of transportation, land holding, access to irrigation, training, and distance to market affect farmer’s decision on diversifying their farm.

Fluktuasi harga cabai merah yang cukup tinggi saat ini ini disebabkan oleh pasokan cabai merah dari sentra produksi ke pasar yang tidak berkesinambungan dan tidak terstruktur sebagai akibat petani yang tidak mengembangkan basis produksi. Salah satu komponen pengembangan basis produksi cabai merah di Indonesia adalah komponen keuangan yang dapat dilakukan melalui Supply Chain Financing dimana resiko dan pengembalian dari penyedia keuangan ditanggung bersama oleh pelaku dalam rantai pasok. Komponen keuangan berupa modal usaha di sistem produksi menjadi salah satu kendala pengembangan agribsnis cabai merah, karena sulitnya memperoleh bantuan pembiayaan akibat karakteristik usaha agribisnis dan risiko yang ditimbulkannya. Model pembiayaan pra panen pada rantai pasok agribisnis akan memperkuat pengembangan basis produksi yang selanjutnya dapat diperluas menjadi klaster agribisnis cabai merah di Jawa Barat, bahkan dapat direplikasi pada tingkat nasional. Melalui pembiayaan rantai pasok diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengembalian atas investasi dan pertumbuhan dan daya saing rantai pasok itu. Riset aksi ini dilakukan melalui metode studi kasus melalui identifikasi Value Stream Mapping dan pendekatan pemodelan kualitatif yang dilakukan di salah satu sentra produksi cabai merah di Jawa Barat, yakni Kabupaten Garut, Desa Cigedug. Untuk menghasilkan cabai dengan kualitas yang baik dan kontinyu harus didukung dengan ketersediaan sarana produksi yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan petani benih cabai dan petani cabai yang diberikan pada tingkat kelompok tani atau koperasi yang memasarkan cabai ke pasar terstruktur. Pembeli dari pasar terstruktur melalui kontrak yang memuat jumlah, kualitas dan harga cabai yang disepakati dapat menjamin kesetabilan pendapatan petani. Dalam hal ini pembeli menjadi penjamin dalam kelancaran pembayaran dari pembiayan yang diberikan kepada petani.
