Sentimentos de inclusão social de pessoas com úlcera venosa

Aim: to investigate the feeling of social inclusion of people with venous ulcers. Method: qualitative research conducted with eight people with venous ulcers treated at adressingsclinic, in Joao Pessoa, Paraiba, Brazil. The data collection was made in February 2012through structured interviews and discourse was explored through thematic content analysis. Results: people with venous ulcers consider the injury a suffering, prefer excluding leisure activities, such as watching television, some feel included in the society and others experience suffering due to the stigma of having the injury, being apart from the contact with their families. Conclusion: it is necessary to rethink inclusive and welcoming care practices that surpass the dressing technique and understand the human being in its complexity

Knowledge and Opinions of Nursing Professionals about Pressure Ulcers Prevention

Introduction: The pressure ulcer is a persistent public health problem, with burden to patients, family and health institutions. Health professionals should have appropriate knowledge to ensure the effectiveness on preventing of these injuries and treat them properly when they happen.

Cost comparison of three kinds of compression therapy in venous ulcer.

Evolution and cost of three types of compression therapy (single layer, multilayer and Unna boot) in patients with venous ulceration were compared. The evaluation lasted two months and used photographic records and instrument based on pressure ulcer scale for healing (PUSH). Treatment with monolayer compression therapy presented the lowest cost and more efficacy of the three types, with 82% savings compared with the multilayer therapy.
