Einsatz von Tablets in Grundschulen

Im Rahmen des Beitrags wird die Zielsetzung und Umsetzung des Projektes Mobiles Lernen in Hessen (MOLE), das die Einfuhrung von Tablets an sechs hessischen Grundschulen umfasst, beschrieben und die bisherigen Ergebnisse der wissenschaftlichen Begleituntersuchung vorgestellt. Eine zentrale Fragestellung war dabei, wie und zu welchen Zwecken die mobilen Endgerate im Unterricht eingesetzt werden und welchen Einfluss der Tableteinsatz uber einen langeren Zeitraum auf die Motivation der Schulerinnen und Schuler hat. Die Ergebnisse der empirischen Studie zeigen, dass Schulerinnen und Schuler hochmotiviert mit den Tablets arbeiten und vor allem dann die Motivation hoch gehalten werden kann, wenn die Unterrichtsszenarien projekt- und prozessorientiert gestaltet sind und selbstgesteuertes Lernen ermoglichen.

Dewey’s concept of experience for inquiry-based landscape drawing during field studies

Abstract The epistemological and educational philosophy of John Dewey is used as a theoretical basis to analyze processes of knowledge construction during geographical field studies. The experience of landscape drawing as a method of inquiry and a starting point for research-based learning is empirically evaluated. The basic drawing skills are acquired through an online drawing course. The main aim is to foster the self-organized acquisition of relevant skills to explore, describe and reflect on subjective mental and linguistic concepts in relation to scientific landscape models. The results, based on an evaluation of the students’ drawings, their responses to questionnaires and a review of students’ “reflective notes”, indicate that the approach motivated students to learn about the processes which formed the landscape and that the students perceived the method of inquiry after Dewey as a way to overcome cognitive dissonance.

Using Self-Assessments for Predicting the Success of Study

Selecting the right field of study is one of the most important prerequisite for a successful study and career advancement. In order to choose the appropriate field of study, a good match between interests and abilities on the one hand and study requests on the other, are of considerable relevance for future students. This can contribute to decreasing dropout rates and increasing students satisfaction. The prospective students expectations often vary considerably from actual contents and demands. One of the reasons is many peoples reluctance to inform themselves about the actual relevance of personal strengths and weaknesses concerning their success in their studies and career. Self-assessments can be used as an instrument to give the potential student a realistic idea about the nature of the subject in question and can indicate him what cognitive and non-cognitive abilities are expected. In this paper we present a generic and extensible concept for developing a multidisciplinary self-assessment, which can be implemented for any subject, in any language by any academic institution.
