The final sample consisted of 19 articles. Results: The main methods used for the detection of dry eye were: Test of Schirmer, Bengal Rose, fluorescein staining and tear film breakup time. Conclusion: The results showed a variety of methods used, being of great value to managers, health professionals, and patients. Also, it is essential to emphasize that it is necessary to further studies with high levels of evidence so the consensus on the tests used and their measurements can be reached.

OBJECTIVE Clinically validate the Nursing Outcome Behavior of falls prevention in hospitalized patients. METHOD This was a cross-sectional study developed at a public university hospital with a sample of 45 patients. The data collection was performed through the evaluation of four nurses, with a double used the instrument with the constitutive and operational definitions of the indicators and magnitudes of the Fall Prevention Behavior Result, while the other pair did not use such definitions. RESULTS When applying the non-parametric analysis of variance by the Friedman test, ten indicators showed statistical differences between the inferences made by the evaluators for each patient. In relation to the intraclass correlation coefficient, confidence interval and p value assigned to each indicator of the scale, most of the indicators were statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS The instrument referring to the Fall Behavior Outcome Behavior was considered valid for the study population.

Purpose: This study aimed to check fall prevention behavior among elderly patients admitted to a hospital, by assessing the indicators of a nursing outcome from the “Nursing Outcomes Classification” (NOC).Methods: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional, survey conducted with elderly patients admitted to a university hospital. For collecting data, a validated instrument was applied, consisting of NOC indicators of the nursing outcome mentioned above. Results: The indicator asks for physical assistance to the patient, it was correlated to fall within the last six months, and the indicators agitation control and use of safe actions during transfer were associated with difficulty in walking. Conclusion: Fall prevention behavior by the elderly patient during hospital stay is a co-responsibility of her/his companion and the nursing team. There is a need to train nurses regarding patient safety measures, focusing on preventing falls and encouraging safe behavior among hospitalized elderly patients.
