OBJECTIVE: to estimate survival, mortality and cause of death among users or not of hydroxyurea with sickle cell disease. METHOD: cohort study with retrospective data collection, from 1980 to 2010 of patients receiving inpatient treatment in two Brazilian public hospitals. The survival probability was determined using the Kaplan-Meier estimator, survival calculations (SPSS version 10.0), comparison between survival curves, using the log rank method. The level of significance was p=0.05. RESULTS: of 63 patients, 87% had sickle cell anemia, with 39 using hydroxyurea, with a mean time of use of the drug of 20.0±10.0 years and a mean dose of 17.37±5.4 to 20.94±7.2 mg/kg/day, raising the fetal hemoglobin. In the comparison between those using hydroxyurea and those not, the survival curve was greater among the users (p=0.014). A total of 10 deaths occurred, with a mean age of 28.1 years old, and with Acute Respiratory Failure as the main cause. CONCLUSION: the survival curve is greater among the users of hydroxyurea. The results indicate the importance of the nurse incorporating therapeutic advances of hydroxyurea in her care actions.OBJECTIVE: to estimate survival, mortality and cause of death among users or not of hydroxyurea with sickle cell disease. Objective: clinically characterizing cornea transplant patients and their distribution according to indicated and post-operative conditions of cornea transplantation, as well as estimating the average waiting time. Method: a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study performed for all cornea transplants performed at a reference service (n=258). Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version 20.0. Results: the main indicator for cornea transplant was keratoconus. The mean waiting time for the transplant was approximately 5 months and 3 weeks for elective transplants and 9 days for urgent cases. An association between the type of corneal disorder with gender, age, previous surgery, eye classification, glaucoma and anterior graft failure were found. Conclusion: keratoconus was the main indicator for cornea transplant. Factors such as age, previous corneal graft failure (retransplantation), glaucoma, cases of surgeries prior to cornea transplant (especially cataract surgery) may be related to the onset corneal endothelium disorders.ABSTRACT Objective: clinically characterizing cornea transplant patients and their distribution according to indicated and post-operative conditions of cornea transplantation, as well as estimating the average waiting time. OBJECTIVE Identifying the strategies used to promote critical thinking (CT) during undergraduate education in nursing courses. DESIGN Systematic review. SOURCE OF DATA Five electronic databases were searched without language, publication time or geographic filters. METHOD A systematic review of the literature. Including experimental studies that considered at least one teaching strategy to promote critical thinking of undergraduate students in Nursing courses. The search for studies occurred in three phases: title and summary review, complete text and implementation of a clinical form of selection according to predetermined criteria. All included studies were assessed for quality through a classification tool for experimental studies. RESULTS Six studies were selected. The results were grouped into three key themes: an evaluation of the quality of the selected studies, characterization of the studies and the strategies used to promote critical thinking. All selected studies were in English, with significant conceptual similarity of Critical Thinking and dominance in choosing the approached theme during strategies in clinical nursing education with an emphasis on the nursing process. CONCLUSIONS The most widely used teaching intervention was Problem-Based Learning. Nursing education mediated by strategies that stimulate CT is considered a positive difference in undergraduate curriculums.

Objetive: discuss the importance of multidisciplinary care for patients undergoing Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) based on the transdisciplinary care. Method: This is a theoretical essay discussing. Results: Each year, about 50 million people are undergoing HSCT worldwide. This therapeutic strategy is used for some oncological, hematological or immunological, malignant and non-malignant inherited or acquired diseases. During the steps after HSCT, patients, and their families experience moments of anxiety, anguish and uncertainty that cause stress and interfere with their daily lives. The multidisciplinary team working in HSCT service provide complex and specialized care since this scenario requires specific knowledge of the area. However, they do not relieve the interweaving of new knowledge for an interdisciplinary practice that meets the patient´s health needs in this delicate moment of his life. From this perspective, health professionals of HSCT service should excel by constantly learning and dynamic interventions and sharing of knowledge in the multidisciplinary team that includes a complex and transdisciplinary care. Conclusion: This essay causes the discussion about care in HSCT based on transdisciplinary care. It should be emphasized the responsibility of each member of the multidisciplinary team for the contribution and strengthening of the patient´s quality of life. In a way, the interdisciplinary care permeates the complexity in an open perspective of approximation of the various areas of knowledge.

Objective: To identify the best evidence for the methods used for the detection of dry eye in patients hospitalized in intensive care unit.Method: This is an integrative review carried out from April to June 2015 in the following databases: Science Direct, SCOPUS, CINAHL, PUBMED, MEDLINE, LILACS, Cochrane and Web of Science. The final sample consisted of 19 articles. Results: The main methods used for the detection of dry eye were: Test of Schirmer, Bengal Rose, fluorescein staining and tear film breakup time. Conclusion: The results showed a variety of methods used, being of great value to managers, health professionals, and patients. Also, it is essential to emphasize that it is necessary to further studies with high levels of evidence so the consensus on the tests used and their measurements can be reached.

OBJECTIVE to describe the content validation process of a Virtual Learning Object to support the teaching of nursing care systematization to nursing professionals. METHOD methodological study, with quantitative approach, developed according to the methodological reference of Pasqualis psychometry and conducted from March to July 2016, from two-stage Delphi procedure. RESULTS in the Delphi 1 stage, eight judges evaluated the Virtual Object; in Delphi 2 stage, seven judges evaluated it. The seven screens of the Virtual Object were analyzed as to the suitability of its contents. The Virtual Learning Object to support the teaching of nursing care systematization was considered valid in its content, with a Total Content Validity Coefficient of 0.96. CONCLUSION it is expected that the Virtual Object can support the teaching of nursing care systematization in light of appropriate and effective pedagogical approaches.
