Abstract The purpose of this paper is to explore the field of Risk Management (RM) in relation with Knowledge Management (KM). It attempts to present a conceptual framework, called Knowledge-Based Risk Management (KBRM) that employs KM processes to improve its effectiveness and increase the probability of success in innovative Information Technology (IT) projects. It addresses initiatives towards employing KM processes in RM processes by reviewing, interpreting the related and relevant literature and sheds light on integration with RM in the IT project. The paper exposes some pertinent elements needed for building the KBRM framework for IT projects and also suggests some instrument about the integration of KM and RM process to improve the RRP (Risk Response Planning) process efficiency. This paper will contribute to the literature and practice by providing a clear method for employing KBRM as a framework to keep organizations competitive within the business environment.

The purpose of this study is to ascertain customer satisfaction perception of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) adoption by mobile telecom companies in Saudi Arabia. This study surveys more than 440 mobile telecom customers to investigate their opinion about the quality of offered customer services by mobile telecom companies and its impact on customer satisfaction and hence customer. The study concentrates on the main three channels used by mobile companies to provide customer services (customer service offices, phone operator and web site services). Empirical findings present evidence that the quality of customer service significantly affect customer satisfaction and thus customer loyalty. It is found that the majority of customers preferred to use phone operator than office customer services.

This paper examines how Jordanian companies use the knowledge process to support Customer Knowledge Acquisition CKA and how they foster it. The empirical study is based on a sample of the data collected from 156 respondents, drawn randomly from three software business solution companies working in the Customer Relationship Management CRM area, and four companies which are employing the CRM system. The results show that the three selected factors need for Customer Knowledge, Verify Customer Source, and Capture Customer Knowledge have a significant impact on customer acquisition. However, the source identification of knowledge is not significant in Jordanian business software environments. The empirical findings will help both researchers and practitioners in future Knowledge Management KM and Customer Acquisition research to gain a better understanding of the knowledge processes about customers on Customer Acquisition. This paper provides a contribution to the literature about Customer Knowledge Acquisition in one of the developing countries as a framework to keep organizations competitive within the global business environment.

IT projects management is not free from risks which are created from various sources of the environment. Thus a comprehensive understanding of these possible risks and creating strategic policies to confront them are one of the fundamental requirements for successful implementation of IT projects. The risks faced during the implementation of IT Projects are not just related to financial aspects. IT Project Managers must embrace these fundamental issues with more holistic view, rather than merely focusing on the financial matters. In order to prevent the potential problems from arising or escalating into bigger magnitude, serious attention must be given to it before the implementation of any IT project. The main focus of this paper is to investigate the impacts of Knowledge Management (KM) on Risk Management (RM) in IT project implementation process.

The objective of this study is to explore how IS success is defined and perceived by a group of people in France. The results show that culture does influence IS success perception. The study has many implications for both academic and practice communities. The results are especially important to multinational organizations that standardize IS in different cultures, including France. The research case is a multibillion dollar Canadian multinational organization which decided to standardize an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in all its worldwide subsidiaries.

The purpose of this paper is to study how Jordanian companies use the knowledge process to support risk analysis and how they deal with and foster it. The present empirical study is based on a sample of the data collected from 180 respondents, drawn randomly from Jordanian Telecommunication Companies. It provides a contribution to the literature about knowledge-based risk analysis in one of the developing countries as a framework to keep organisations competitive within the global business environment. This paper makes the following contributions. First, it demonstrates that according to project stakeholders, individual risk management activities, like for instance risk identification, are able to contribute to project success.Second, this paper provides insight in how knowledge process to support risk analysis and how they deal with and foster risk management activities to contribute in IT project success. And third, based on this new perspective, this paper provides new directions for further research into the mechanisms on how knowledge process support risk analysis in risk management to contribute in IT project success. The results of the survey show that the four selected factors (knowledge-based risk rationalise, knowledge-based risk comprehension, knowledge-based risk examination, and knowledge-based risk validation) have a significant impact on risk analysis.Due to the literature limitation about the KM model in developing countries, the current study will contribute to this field by addressing the knowledge-based risk. The findings will certainly help both researchers and practitioners in future knowledge management (KM) process, and risk analysis research. In order to get a better understanding of the knowledge processes on risk analysis, future research endeavours should focus on several other countries for comparative purposes.

Information Technology (IT) is a new tool in education that continually changes and offers new opportunities for teaching and learning. In general, the effects of IT are complex and depend upon people’s decisions about development and use. This study investigates the ethical issues in education in terms of Information Systems students’ attitudes at Saudi universities towards digital piracy. The differences in the ethical decision-making process, ethical awareness, and intention to perform questionable acts is examined. The authors tested for differences in attitudes toward eighteen different questionable actions by using three different factors (gender, age, and university level). The measures of awareness capture the extent to which respondents felt that a particular action was unethical according to each of several ethical criteria. This work explored information technology ethics in several ways. The work analyzed whether information technology use is viewed by individuals as an ethical topic and demographic differences were explored. Significant differences were found in many cases between demographic groups based on ethical issues. These findings can be used to target and address ethical issues and enforcement in information systems curriculum. With the advent of intensive telecommunications capabilities and sophisticated databases, widespread distribution of information security breaches, viruses or other questionable behavior on the Internet have recently become a concern. The misuse of and unethical behavior toward Information Systems (IS) have caused significant losses to businesses and society (Leonard & Cronan, 2005). Organizations have invested in the development and implementation of security measures, but computer misuse continues to be a problem. Cross-cultural comparison of ethics has recently gained significant abundance of DOI: 10.4018/ijcee.2011040104 42 International Journal of Cyber Ethics in Education, 1(2), 41-53, April-June 2011 Copyright
