BI and ERP integration

Purpose – This paper seeks to propose a business intelligence (BI) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) integrated framework that adds value to enterprise systems.Design/methodology/approach – A conceptual approach is taken.Findings – ERP systems integrate all facets of the business and make data available in real time. BI tools are capable of accessing data directly from ERP modules.Originality/value – The value‐added system proposed allows enterprise‐wide transaction data to be collected and analyzed for organizational decision‐making processes.

Information systems outsourcing life cycle and risks analysis

This paper identifies an information systems outsourcing life cycle through three project related periods: pre-contract phase, contract phase, and post-contract phase. Also, various risk factors that associated with each phase of the information system outsourcing practice have been identified and examined. ISO quality standards and risk management standards are also discussed in this paper. A successful outsourcing project needs to perform suitable risk analysis and quality control process.

SaaS can be adopted as an excellent outsourcing model since it exhibits the technological and economic benefits of IT services.

The complementary role of business process reengineering and information technology to total quality management practices

Total Quality Management (TQM) practices aim to improve product quality and business process efficiency. However, the results of TQM practices are not always satisfied. This study proposes a research model to remedy such problem. This model suggests that the result of TQM practices could be strengthened after integrating business process reengineering and Information Technology (IT) into such implementation.

The capability, suitability, and pros and cons of adopting virtual private network for electronic commerce are discussed. An economic analysis is used to compare the cost and benefit of adopting virtual private network in organizations.Findings – This paper provides information about virtual private network technology. It also indicates the advantages and disadvantages of adopting virtual private network for electronic commerce practices. Integrating change management and change auditing into information technology consulting practice

IT consulting firms develop consulting methodology to standardise their consulting practice and to ensure the quality of their consulting work. Consulting firms may implement their consulting methodologies through either procedures, methods or procedures and methods combined approach. This study surveyed the contents from websites of 64 IT consulting companies and further compared and analysed a variety of consulting methodologies offered in the IT consulting industry. IS consulting projects may face unexpected demand for changes during their working period. For these reasons, change management becomes a needed endeavour to IS consulting practice. Changes occurred in project period cause risks and uncertainties. These risks and uncertainty can be monitored and controlled through implementing suitable change management and change auditing processes. This paper discusses various stages and activities of implementing change management and change auditing during IS consulting practice. Integrating change management and change auditing into consulting firms methodology would enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of consulting practice.
