Validación de la Escala de Depresión de Yesavage (versión reducida) en adultos mayores colombianos

Esta investigacion busca estandarizar la Escala de Depresion de Yesavage (version reducida) en los adultos mayores no institucionalizados de la ciudad de Cali pertenecientes a Centros Dia. Se conforma una muestra de 500 adultos mayores, dentro de los cuales 416 son mujeres y 84 son hombres, entre los 60 y 96 anos de edad. Este tipo metodologico forma parte de la modalidad de validacion de una prueba. Para la estandarizacion de la escala se utilizaron las medidas de tendencia central y los coeficientes de correlacion punto biserial para cada item. El coeficiente de confiabilidad de la escala es del 0.7268 indicando que la escala GDS- 15 es altamente confiable; 14 de tos 15 items estadisticamente predicen moderadamente el constructo de depresion; sin embargo, desde el analisis Psicologico los 15 items son pertinentes para evaluar rasgos depresivos.

Dolor, calidad de vida y estado anímico relacionados con la salud de pacientes ancianos hospitalizados

Objective . This descriptive, transverse study, attempts to establish the existent relation between the degree of perceived pain, anxiety, depression and quality of life of elderly hospitalized patients. Method . A stratified- random sample was used for this study. Using the Goldberg Anxiety and Depression Scale (GADS), the Nottingham Health Profile (NHP), and the Simple Verbal Scale (SVS), the patients’ reported anxiety and depression levels, as well as the intensity of their pain were measured. Results . It was observed that in general, as the patient’s pain increased, their depression and anxiety levels, and the quality of life areas evaluated using the NHP, worsened. Analyses are descriptive and inferential. Conclusion . In view of the deterioration of the quality of life and its relationship to the emotional responses associated with anxiety and depression, and the intensity of pain, interventions should be carried out at primary and secondary level to permit pain control, in order to reduce the impact on the mental health of older adults, based on pharmacological and psychological integrated strategies. Likewise, it is suggested that inpatient programs incorporating holistic therapies which, in turn, meet the emotional affective elderly needs of hospitalized patients, are created, with the aim of improving their quality of life.

Comparación de factores psicosociales de riesgo en adolescentes de Bucaramanga y su área metropolitana en función del género

In Colombia, each year there are increasing numbers in new cases of HIV/AIDS and the researches are showing their interest in this issue. Santander, has Little information about statistics and risk population group, therefore, the present research made important contribution about knowledge, attitudes and perception of susceptibility and selfefficacy in teenagers of Bucaramanga and metropolitan area. The findings show that the ignorance of the teenagers is the main risk factor for HIV infection. The positive attitude high scores and the teenagers express acceptance towars people infected. Susceptibility and self efficacy, the teenagers show that could perform behaviors of protection.
