Structurally diverse spiroheterocycles with fused heterosystems; spiro[benzothiazolo[2,3-b] chromeno[3,4-e]pyrimidine-7,3′-indoline]-2′,6-diones, spiro[benzothiazolo[2,3-b]pyrimido[5,4-e]pyrimidine-5,3′-indoline]-2,2′,4-triones, spiro[benzothiazolo[2,3-b]quinazolin-5,3′-indoline]-2′,4-diones and spiro[benzothiazolo[2,3-b]pyrano[3,4-e]pyrimidine-5,3′-indoline]-2′,4-diones incorporating medicinally privileged heterosystems have been synthesized by an environmentally benign, efficient and convenient synthesis involving the sulfamic acid-catalyzed multicomponent domino reaction of 2-aminobenzothiazoles with isatin and cyclic 1,3-diketones in an aqueous medium.

Abstract Structurally diverse annulated benzothiazoloquinazolines have been synthesized by an environmentally benign, efficient, and convenient synthesis involving three-component domino reaction of 2-aminobenzothiazoles, α-tetralone, and furan-2-carbaldehyde/p-methoxybenzaldehyde using an SO3H-functionalized halogen-free ionic liquid ([MIM(CH2)4SO3H][HSO4]) as a catalyst and a reaction medium.

An efficient and facile synthesis of Zn(II) complexes with 2-substituted benzothiazoles and glycine- and alanine-based ligands having antifungal and antibacterial activities

We carried out an efficient and facile synthesis of Zn(II) complexes with heterocyclic ligands based on 2-substituted benzothiazole moieties, 2-(2′-hydroxynaphthyl)benzothiazole, 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)benzothiazole, and 2-(2′-merceptophenyl)benzothiazole, and amino acids, glycine and alanine, are reported and also examined for antifungal and antibacterial activities. Ligands and complexes were characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, and elemental analysis.
