Intracellular microelectrophoresis was applied to investigate the electrokinetic properties of human buccal epithelium cell nuclei after exposure of cells to microwaves of wavelengths of 8 mm (f = 37.5 GHz) and 16 mm (f = 18.75 GHz) at a surface power density of 0.2 mW/cm2. Irradiated or nonirradiated cells were suspended in a flat microelectrophoretic chamber and exposed to an electric field of 15 V/cm at a current flow of 0.1 mA. The cells, whose nuclei altered their intracellular location towards the anode of the externally applied electric field, were considered to have negatively charged nuclei. The percentage of cells with electrophoretically movable nuclei was determined as the value of electronegativity of cell nuclei (ENN). Microwaves induced changes of ENN during irradiation of 15–60 s. If cells of a donor had an elevated initial level of ENN, it decreased during irradiation. On the contrary, if cells of another donor had a low initial ENN level, irradiation induced ENN increase. No significant difference between the action of microwaves of wavelengths of 8 mm and 16 mm was found. However, microwave irradiation caused an increase in membrane permeability for the in vivo dye indigo Carmine in cells of all donors irrespectively of the initial levels they showed. This suggests that electrokinetic properties of nuclei in cells do not only depend on cell membrane permeability.

Monofrequency excitation of open resonator with inclined comb grating

Anatoly Ivanovich Fisun

The theoretical and experimental analysis of the open resonator with the reflection diffraction comb grating has been presented. This resonator has excitation where is close to the monofrequency mode. This results may be used for the elaboration of mm-wave quasi-optical devices such as generators, mixer, converter, wavemeters and others.

The essential feature required by oscillator systems for the frequency stabilization of solid-state sources in the short-wave part of the MM-wave band is formulated. A small-size quasi-optical corner-echelette open resonator (OR) is proposed for this purpose. The 2D model analysis method is described and results of an experimental study of the features of the OR are presented. It is recommended that these ORs be used in oscillators in the 50-150 GHz frequency band.

Using simulation in the FDTD technique it was demonstrated that the strip-like diffraction gratings are the promising candidate for whispering-gallery mode selection. The essence of the selection process is as follows: The incident wave is transformed to the surface one by a strip-like diffraction grating at the dielectric substrate if the condition λ / 2 = P is fulfilled. If the diffraction grating applies to the lateral surface of the dielectric resonator, the direction of the surface wave is coincident with the propagation direction of the whispering-gallery mode. If geometrical dimentions of the grating and resonator are chosen in such a way that the integer number of half waves n fits the lateral surface of the resonator, the surface wave serves to excite the whispering-gallery mode with azimuthal number n. The other waves go off into outer space.

Optimization of complex for high-loss substance permittivity measurements

P.S. Krasov; E.A. Arkhipova; Anatoly Ivanovich Fisun

Test experiments carried out in clinical terms on measuring of dielectric data of human blood and evaluation of erythrocyte adrenergic activity [1] showed that measuring complex on the basis of the developed before reflectometer [2] possesses some failures to complete. A cuvette for biological objects loses stability of measuring at the intensive continuous duty (6–8 hours), and also at measuring of time dependence of complex permittivity (by series for 6 minutes). It was also shown that some features of material of patients have an influence on measurements, i.e. device sensitivity was not enough for statistically reliable differentiation of blood cells reaction on bioactive substances effect.

Separate Action of E- and H-Components of Electromagnetic Field at the Buccal Epithelium Cells

S. P. Sirenko; N. N. Grigoreva; Anatoly Ivanovich Fisun; Oleg I. Belous

Influence of E-and H-components of electromagnetic field in human cells has been investigated. It is determined, that the H-component influence is more efficient. It is suggested that the revolved oscillation component (rotation spectrum) is varied for the ions, involving in the cellular processes

The influence of water activated with electromagnetic irradiation on Drosophila Melanogaster

N.N. Grigoryeva; L.M. Chepel; V.G. Shakhbazov; S. P. Sirenko; Anatoly Ivanovich Fisun; Oleg I. Belous

The influence of water, activated by EHF radiation and melt water on the imago steady-state of the Drosophila Melanogaster and its posterity have been investigated. The reaction of the Drosophila relative to starvation is received in the tap water and melt water. It is concluded that the reaction of the object under study in normal condition as well as in activated condition depends upon water structure. It testifies that water structure plays important role in mechanism of electromagnetic energy absorption

Variations in electrokinetic properties of cell nuclei under influence of EM-irradiated water

S.P. Sirenko; N.N. Grigoryeva; V.G. Shakhbazov; Anatoly Ivanovich Fisun; Oleg I. Belous

The goal of the study is to compare the response of native human buccal epithelium cells exposed to extremely high frequency (EHF) electromagnetic field in water with that of cells suspended in pre-irradiated water. Electrophoretic mobility of cell nuclei in electric field has served as a quantitative indicator of this response (electronegative nuclei (ENN))
