Silicon nanowire (SiNW) deposition can be performed by introducing Si precursor onto metal catalyzed substrate as a lead on vapor‐liquid‐solid (VLS) mechanism. Nanosize metallic droplet as catalyst can be synthesized by annealing a very thin metallic film in order to break it into droplet. The simple method had been used for synthesizing Platinum (Pt) nano‐droplet. A very thin Pt film had been grown on a wafer silicon substrate using fine coat ion sputtering followed by annealing in which the temperature varied in the interval of 700–800° C, each for 30 minutes. The surface morphology of the film was done by scanning electron microscope (SEM) which showed that Pt nano‐droplet in the best formation obtained at the annealing temperature of 800° C. In addition, dependences of the film thickness and annealing time to produce Pt nano‐droplet formation, especially the nano‐droplet size, had been investigated.

A study on fabrication of thick film Ag, Pd/Ag, and Au for microstrip band pass filter application using screen printing method has been carried out. Research carried out by making three band pass filter using conductor paste Au, Ag, and Pd/Ag. Band pass filters are designed at the operating center frequency 456 MHz, bandwidth of 60 MHz, 1 VSWR, and -93.55 dB loss. SEM, EDS and FTIR characterization conducted to determine morphology and content of microstrip band pass filter. Meanwhile, the performance of band pass filter was examined by using VNA SEM results indicate grain size conductor strip using Au, Ag, and Pd/Ag are 0.435 nm, 0.389 nm and 0.913 nm. The thickness of each conductor strips are 10.47μm, 12.98 μm and 14.15μm. Based on SEM results showed pores scattered on the surface of conductor strip, which causes the value loss increases. EDS and FTIR results indicate the presence of impurities C, N, O, H and Al on conductor strip of microstrip. The measurement of three band pass filter with VNA get the results that the center frequency 456 MHz, bandwidth of 60 MHz, 3 dB loss and 1.3 VSWR. Fabrication results indicate the value of loss and VSWR, higher than the design. It was due to conductor loss that occurs due to pore on the surface microstrip and also due to the impurity.

TiO2 nanoparticles have been coated on the polypropylene (PP) copolymers using a milling method with temperature controller modification. These experiments were carried out at different milling temperature: 100 °C, 110 °C, 120 °C and 130 °C for 90 minute milling time for each experiment. Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (MB) was investigated using TiO2 coated PP copolymer which floats on the MB solution and illuminated under sunlight for 36 hours. It was found that TiO2 coated PP polymer at temperature of 100 °C resulted in optimum decomposition of MB solution. The concentration of MB in a test solution after 18 hours of exposure to the sun was 15.42%. The reaction rate constants (k) and the half‐reaction (t1/2) in the MB photodegradation using the catalysts with a coating temperature of 100 °C, are 0.106 hours−1 and 6.53 hours, respectively. This coated material is very potential for repeated use to purify bulk water in high sunlight intensity region.

The transparent conductive coating based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) had been fabricated using the electric field deposition method. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) results show a quite uniform CNTs on Corning glass substrates. Moreover the X‐ray Diffraction (XRD) results shows the peak at around 25° which proves the existence of CNT materials. The CNT thin films obtained with different deposition times have different transmittance coefficients at wavelength of 550 nm. I–V measurement results shows higher sheet resistance value which relates with bigger transmittance coefficients and vice versa.
