Application of Topic Based Vector Space Model with WordNet

Topic Based Vector Space Model (TVSM) proposed a new vector space that its dimensions is composed of topics. Every term and document is represented by vectors inside this vector space. By using topics as dimensions TVSM tries to overcome word-mismatch between terms with similar topics in finding relevant documents to query. This study proposes to develop relations between terms using WordNet and thesaurus to help TVSM calculating similarity between documents. Relations between terms are represented by relation score. This study proposes a way to find optimal relation score for a set of documents. To help indexing documents with multi language terms this study also proposes to use dictonary to expand query terms.

Clustering search engine at Petra Christian University Library using Suffix Tree Clustering

At Petra Christian University Library, book searching engine system is using a common keyword matching as search queries. So, the user must enter the correct keyword and this case often takes a long time for users to find book that needed. Therefore, required an application thats capable display the search results that classified into a group/cluster. Which is each cluster will contain the documents that have the same classification base on keyword that been input by user in order to assist users in perform book searching. In this study, have been build an application to classify the document search results into a group of documents that have the same classification/cluster. Input to the cluster obtained from regular search results then the classification/clustering done by using Suffix Tree Clustering (STC) uses the document phrase. Based on the testing, the resulting cluster has been able to cluster documents that correlate or have the same classification with the keyword that input by user. The average time that needed to process for each document is 0.1139 seconds.

Broadcast learning system using multicast address

Nowadays, teaching and learning process using computers becomes inseparable process, especially on information technology department. The teaching process often occurs on the laboratory, which is every student will do the learning process in front of a computer. A computer can help the learning process but also can disturb the learning process because student can be distracted to do something else. Therefore, this research will develop server and client applications to help control the process of learning and teaching that give on a computer laboratory by broadcast everything that show on computer server monitor to each client. The server can also control the keyboard, mouse, monitor and terminate or block an application that run on computer client. This application will be build using Microsoft Visual C#. Testing results showed that the number of clients does not affect the bandwidth consumption and CPU usage at broadcast. The smooth multicast depends on several factors such as type of image compression and resolution sizes. Selection resolution size and type appropriate image compression is recommended that more real-time multicast.

Tracing Related Scientific Papers by a Given Seed Paper Using Parscit

The project developed a web site learning support for tracing scientific articles relating to a given input seed paper/article. The system will finds related articles that are listed on the references of the seed article. First, the reference list of an input seed article is extracted by utilizing Parscit citation extraction. Furthermore, the system searches the reference articles using Google Scholar and Mendeley API. Thus articles which are related to the seed article can be found. The system was built using PHP programming, it is utilizing Parscit modules, Google Scholar search and https://www.mendeley.com/ API. Testing has been done by giving an input seed article. User will obtain the results of several articles related to the seed article.

Games and Multimedia Implementation on Heroic Battle of Surabaya: An Android Based Mobile Device Application

Number of users of who use mobile devices and other handheld devices is rapidly increased (such as smartphones and tablet computers). This phenomena has changed the lifestyle of many people, especially in the ease of access to information. For example, access to any business information, political information, tourism information, as well as educational information. Education has also entered a new era, where books and other teaching materials, are not only presented using paper media but also in electronic form. Student can easily access that electronic information using computer/laptop or smartphone/tablet PC. So now, learning can be delivered in a more interesting and interactive media and model. It becomes new challenges for education, especially in teaching nation history, where education in paper material is no longer quite interesting. Therefore, new teaching media is required, that more interesting and interactive to the student. At this time, there are not many applications on mobile devices that explore education especially on heroic history of Indonesia. On the other hand, the education of heroic history become more necessary today, especially for young people. To answer this challenge, in this research we like to build an application software based on android mobile devices that contain education the history of the heroic battles 10 November 1945 in Surabaya. The application will provide the information of battle history, and also games and multimedia interactive such as sound, video streaming that built on android based mobile device. With this educational applications we expected that everyone especially young people can learning the knowledge about the history of the heroic battle 10 November 1945 Surabaya in the mobile device based on Android in interactive educational applications that provide a thorough understanding and fascinating history of the events surrounding the battle, and also exploring the historic sites in Surabaya and found fascinating city of Surabaya.
