In this information epidemiology (infodemiology) study, we describe the online public interest about the issue of femicide in Brazil and analyze the relationship between search queries and femicide trends from 2004 to 2015. We showed that information-seeking behavior for femicide in the Brazilian states has been strongly influenced by female homicide rates. Educational and policy-related interventions are needed to improve the population’s knowledge and attitude toward femicide.

Introduction: Traffic accidents are a public health problem. Victims may acquire permanent or temporary morbidities, and the Mobile Emergency Care Service has become an essential mechanism to minimize injury to victims. Objective: Describe the profile and factors associated with trauma in victims of traffic accidents attended by a Mobile Emergency Service, located within the municipality of Aracaju, State of Sergipe. Material and Methods: Cross-sectional, retrospective, and descriptive study performed at a Mobile Emergency Care Service located in the city of Aracaju, Sergipe. The University Tiradentes Research Ethics Committee approved the study under opinion No. 100811. The sample consisted of 453 occurrences related to victims of traffic accidents. Data collection was carried out accessing the event bulletins. Data were stored in electronic spreadsheets using the software EpiInfoTM 7, and analyzed using the software BioEstat 5.0. Results: Data analysis revealed that the victims were young male adults; motorcycle crashes and motorcycle collisions were the main type of accident, and weekends were the most frequent occurring period. The nature of the lesions, for the most part, was bruises, short blunt injuries, and closed fractures. The most affected regions of the body were the upper and lower limbs, and the head. The factors associated with traffic accidents were male gender, alcohol consumption, and the absence of personal protective equipment. Conclusion: The study pointed out the profile of the victims of trauma due to traffic accidents attended by the Emergency Mobile Service, as well as their associated factors. The findings can be useful to professionals, managers, and researchers in the construction of the knowledge related to this scope and in guiding of actions and public health policies. Objetcitve: To assess in vitro effects of essential oil extracted from Croton argyrophylloides against clinical and standard strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis , comparing its resistance and sensitivity profiles to drugs commonly used in therapy. Method: In the present study, chemical composition and antimycobacterial activity of essential oils extracted from aerial parts of Croton argyrophylloides collected in Curituba district, Sergipe, Brazil were analysed. The oil was studied by GC and GC-MS and its antimicobacterial activity (MIC) was tested against 49 clinical and standard covers H 37 RV using the REMA method. To access sensitivity to isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol and streptomycin it was used proportions indirect test method. Results: Twenty-seven chemicals were identified, totalizing 95.98% of the composition of essential oil. The oil presented good antibacterial activity (MIC = 97 to 195 g / ml) against strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv and pattern one. Conclusion: On pharmacological activities of these species confirmed in vitro scientific support for its use in traditional herbal preparations.
