POSITIVE ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIORS AS THE KEY SUCCESS FACTORS FOR LESSONS LEARNED SYSTEMS: THE CASE OF MILITARY ORGANIZATIONS

The aim of this paper is to study the role positive organizational behaviors play in Lessons Learned systems in military organizations. The paper is based on the outcomes of the analysis of military documentation, the observation method and the opinions of the Lesson Learned personnel of the organizations under the study. The case study provides the examples identified in: NATO, the U.S. Army and the Polish Armed Forces. In a natural way, the attention is focused on the organizations recognized as the key Lessons Learned players in their respective armies/alliance: the NATO Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Centre (JALLC), the U.S. Centre for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) and the Polish Armed Forces Doctrine and Training Centre (PAF DTC). The scope of the analysis includes leadership and the stakeholders’ involvement in capturing observations, sharing information and learning from others

How to Strengthen Positive Organizational Behaviors Fostering Experiential Learning? The Case of Military Organizations

The aim of the paper is to study the challenges concerning organizational behaviors crucial for Lessons Learned capabilities in military organizations as well as to indentify the solutions and recommendations to develop and strengthen positive organizational culture, climate and behaviors fostering experiential learning. The attention is focused around positive behaviors recognized by NATO as the key success factors for Lessons Learned capabilities such as: the engagement of leaders, positive mindset, willingness to share information and stakeholder involvement. The contents of the paper are mainly based on the interviews with Lessons Learned experts and practitioners representing both NATO commands, bodies and national Lessons Learned military organizations. The Manifestations of Positive Leadership Strategies in the Doctrinal Assumptions of the U.S. Army Leadership Concept

The aim of the paper is to identify the manifestations of positive leadership strategies in the doctrinal assumptions of the U.S. Army leadership concept. The components of the U.S. Army leadership requirements model are be tested against the Cameron’s (2012) model of positive leadership strategies including: building a positive work climate; fostering positive relationships among the members of an organisation; establishing and promoting positive communication and manifesting the meaningfulness of work.

Is leadership an antecedent of corporate social responsibility? The study in the context of positive organisational potential

The aim of the paper is to investigate the relationships between the manifestations of corporate social responsibility and the intra-organisational antecedents related to leadership. The study is conducted within the context of positive organisational potential. In order to achieve the aim of the paper, the following operational objectives have been set: (1) to discuss the concepts of leadership and CSR in the theory of Positive Organisational Scholarship; (2) to identify mutual correlations between CSR and the antecedents related to leadership; (3) to assess the impact of intra-organisational factors related to leadership on CSR. The analysis is based on the findings from questionnaire surveys in companies operating in Poland and the opinions of experts expressed during the Delphi session.

In search of positive organizational potential: the case of frauenthal Toruń automotive company

The aim of this paper is to analyze the key areas of Positive Organizational Potential in Frauenthal Automotive Torun (FTO) Company (former Pol-Necks). Positive Organizational Potential is the construct combining the assumptions of Positive Organizational Scholarship and Resource Based View. Positive Organizational Potential is the combination of tangible and intangible resources creating Positive Organizational Culture and Positive Organizational Climate, fostering positive employee behaviors and thus contributing to organizational development. The study is an element of the research project on strategic management of the Positive Organizational Potential key areas in companies operating in Poland. The following key areas of Positive Organizational Potential are explored and analyzed: corporate governance, leadership, the competencies and attitudes of middle managers, talent management, internal communication, interpersonal relationships, trust, organizational citizenship behaviors and corporate social responsibility.

The Relationships Between Leadership and Corporate Social Responsibility: Systematic Literature Review

The issues of leadership and corporate social respon-sibility have been thoroughly investigated and widely discussed in the literature but these two concepts have been seldom studied together. The aim of the paper is to identify the key research prob-lems and approaches related to the relationships between leader-ship and CSR manifested in quality publications. The systematic literature survey methodology is applied to identify and analyse key publications in the field. The research sample includes the quality papers retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collec-tion database. The paper discusses main research problems and issues related to the study of relationships between leadership and CSR, research approaches, methods and study contexts. Finally, the paper provides recommendations for further studies related to relationships between the concepts of leadership and corporate social responsibility.

Inter- and intra-firm learning synergy through integrating absorptive capacity and employee suggestion processes: The case study of Frauenthal Automotive Toruń company

The aim of the paper is to study relationships between the processes of absorptive capacity (inter-firm learning) and learning lessons through employee suggestions (intra-firm learning) and identify potential synergies between them. The research interest is focused on investigating the following problems: (1) How do organizations apply external knowledge to support intra-organizational learning processes? (2) How should the employee suggestion system be organized to increase (or build) absorptive capacity? The exploratory case study analysis is applied to answer research questions and achieve the aim of the study. The unit of analysis is constituted by inter-firm and intra-firm learning processes observed in the firm Frauenthal Automotive Torun (FTO).

The 6th International Military Leadership Conference: Military Leaders Development – The Multiple Approaches

The 6th international Military Leadership Conference was held on 17 – 18 November 2016 in Tartu, Estonia. The event was organised by the Estonian National defence College (ENdC) with the participation of speakers from Estonia, Finland, israel, Poland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. This year, the attention of conference participants was focused on multiple approaches to military leaders development. The aim of the conference was to discuss current status, challenges and prospects for the military leaders development systems including their governing principles, methods and best practices. The conference included paper sessions, a panel discussion and workshops. The event was chaired and moderated by Lt.Col. Antek Kasemaa from ENdC. The first paper session introduced the audience into the issues of military development in Estonia, Poland and the United Kingdom. Col. (Ret.) The 1st International Scientific Conference on Positive Management and Leadership in Socially Responsible Organisations

The 3rd International Scientific Conference on Positive Management and Leadership in Socially Responsible Organisations was conducted on 13 September 2018 at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management (FESM), Nicolaus Copernicus University (NCU) in Torun. The aim of the conference was to establish the discussion platform for the researchers dealing with the aspects of positive management traditionally cultivated by the research community of the FESM NCU (cf. Stankiewicz (Ed.), 2010; Stankiewicz (Ed.), 2013). In 2018, similarly to previous editions of the conference (cf. Lis, 2016; Lis, 2017), the focus was given to the issues associated with: – “positive management including: interpersonal relationships, intra-organisational communication, trust, organisational citizenship behaviours; – leadership including: contemporary concepts of leadership, roles played by top, middle and first line managers, challenges (both external and intra-organisational) faced by leaders in business organisations, the public sector, and non-profit organisations; – corporate responsibility to employees and other stakeholders, organisations in business environment, society and the natural environment”.
