Entre a vontade e a necessidade: negociação sexual em tempos de AIDS

The growth of the use af contraceptive, of the number of women as head of families, and of their leveI of education, together with their impoverishment are combined to the poor estate in which the health in Brazil is. We noticed that, enlarging this picture, a quick advancing of HIV/AIDS epidemics among the feminine population, infected, mainly, by way of sexual transmission. Up to now, the inexistence of a method, determined by women, to prevent the sexual transmission of the virus make urgent the discussion of the inequal relations between the genders, that keep women in an inferior position in the social and individual levels, and interfere in the process of decision taking related to their health and physical integrity protection. With this article we intend to discuss the complexity of the relation between gender and power that permeates the sexual encounters between men and women, delimitating and shaping, among other things, the possibilities of safer sexual practices negotiation.

Mulher, tempo e trabalho: o cotidiano de mulheres comissárias de voo

Este artigo aborda como mulheres maes, que atuam como comissarias de voo, percebem e organizam suas vidas cotidianas, abordando vivencias e praticas em relacao a organizacao temporal e espacial do trabalho na aviacao. A relevância deste tema decorre das especificidades na organizacao temporal e espacial do trabalho, peculiaridades com relacao a gestao da vida cotidiana e os possiveis atravessamentos da questao de genero nesse universo laboral. Este estudo faz uma interlocucao com a discussao sobre tempo e trabalho. Com inspiracao no metodo cartografico, foram entrevistadas seis mulheres maes comissarias de voo. Os discursos revelaram outras formas de gerenciar a casa e a maternidade, outros modelos de relacao com filhos, amigos e familiares e uma concepcao de trabalho que nos faz problematizar o que concebemos como penoso e gerador de sofrimento a partir dessas experiencias que se dao em territorios existenciais pouco habitados.

Prejudice and discrimination in the everyday life of same-sex couples raising children

The present study investigated the experiences of prejudice and discrimination in the everyday lives of five same-sex couples raising children. Data were collected using a questionnaire and an interview and were analyzed by thematic analysis. Participants attributed meanings to their experiences of being homoparental families: they assumed their social role as they managed to develop their own conjugality and parental projects in the struggle within a social context permeated by the hegemony of heteronormative values. The participants experienced prejudice related to their lifestyle and attained parenthood status, challenging social norms and gender stereotypes. However, it was also found that attitudes of willingness and perseverance in their fight for their rights proved to be protective measures against prejudice and social intolerance. A limited number of studies have examined the prejudice and discrimination towards same-sex families in Brazil; therefore, there is a need for greater visibility and further discussion about this phenomenon.
