The Influence of Strategic Dynamic Capabilities on Organizational Outcomes through the Organizational Learning Process

Víctor J. García-Morales; María Magdalena Jiménez-Barrionuevo; Antonio Mihi-Ramirez

In this research, we demonstrate the effects of transformational leadership capability on organizational outcomes by examining its intermediate influence on other capabilities, such as shared vision and teamwork cohesion. We also show how these capabilities affect the organizational learning process to improve organizational innovation and performance. Based on the literature, we develop a theoretical model that shows interrelations between these concepts. The hypotheses are tested using data collected from 408 CEOs in Spanish organizations. The paper provides several implications for future research.

The Migration Flow between Lithuania and Spain: A Study of Economic Factors

Antonio Mihi-Ramirez; Dominik Metelski; Aurimas Rudžionis

International migration has increased severely in the last decade in Europe, particularly between Lithuania and Spain. This research addressed trends of earnings and unemployment and their impact on both emigration and immigration in Spain and Lithuania, relying on the data coming from the period of 2000 till 2012. An empirical analysis of both countries using data from Eurostat and national statistics departments has shown evidence that emigration and immigration were continually growing, showing, however, different behavior in terms of imbalances on earnings and unemployment. Thus, in Spain, the main factor that affects emigration is unemployment, and earnings significantly affect immigration. In turn, the results for Lithuania have shown that the main factor that affects emigration is the level of earnings, and unemployment significantly affects immigration.

An inclusive analysis of determinants of international migration. The case of European rich and poor countries

Antonio Mihi-Ramirez; Vilmantė Kumpikaitė-Valiūnienė; Eduardo Cuenca-García

AbstractThis work aims to integrate defragmented migration perspectives in order to better understand and explain reasons of contemporaneous migration. Accordingly, international migration flows are explained with various socio-economic determinants which address different sources of migration, reinforced by the best-known theories and conceptual frameworks. A panel data analysis is performed at the level of rich and poor countries of the European Union to measure migration flows from the year 2000 until 2013. The results provide evidence indicating that there are some structural similarities and discrepancies between European rich and poor countries. These similarities (or discrepancies) make them responding similarly to certain economic conditions and changes. Thus, the association of earnings, inequalities (measured by the Gini Index) and poverty line could be positive or negative depending on wealth level of countries. Moreover, unemployment is a supply-push factor, but its importance is much higher i...

An analysis of commercial relations between Lithuania and Spain after the European Union´s integration

Aurimas Rudžionis; Antonio Mihi-Ramirez; María del Mar Holgado-Molina

The commercial relations between European Union and Lithuania has been intensified significantly due to the integration process. This article analyzes the commercial impact of trade barriers removal in Lithuania for its commercial partners, especially in the case of Spain and its European competitors. A comparative analysis of the evolution and singularities of the Spanish´s import/export flows to Lithuania from 2000 to 2013 revealed that the international trade between both countries became more active, growing and diverse because of different comparative advantages. Even if the rest of European countries keep a bigger share market, there is no foreseeable risk of trade diversion to the detriment of Spanish products.

Economic Factors Concerning The Migration Of The Best Educated Workers. The Case Of College Teachers / Wpływ Czynników Ekonomicznych na Migrację Pracowników z Wysokimi Kwalifikacjami. Przykład Pracowników Naukowych na Europejskich Uniwersytetach

Antonio Mihi-Ramirez; Yolanda García Rodríguez; Dominik Metelski

Abstract The migration flow of highly skilled workers is a growing and changing issue, especially under the economic conditions in recent years. This research focused on the migration of university teachers, a highly skilled collective responsible for the training of future skilled workers and also the innovation of a country through their research. An empirical analysis of migration flow of this collective and its relation with economics factor in Europe in the last decade showed that earnings are a key factor explaining variations in the migration flow of university teachers over time. Furthermore, considering the real purchasing power and the effect of personal taxes, it would be possible to show which countries are more relevant to the decisions of this collective on migration. Thus, the higher the purchasing power, the greater the number of university teachers who migrate to a given country. Hence those countries that keep or increase the earnings level of university teachers, especially during an economic depression, can attract or maintain highly skilled workers. In addition, the results showed that unemployment is a push factor for migration for these best educated workers.

The New Migration Flow. An Analysis of Economic Factors of Poland and Spain

Antonio Mihi-Ramirez

This paper has been focused on the migration flow changes due to the economic factors, comparing differences and similitudes of two European countries with different migration antecedents and circumstances. Thus, Spain has been a traditional host country for economic migrants and Poland has been traditionally considered a sending or transit country, but after the economic collapse these roles have changed and Spain is involved in a severe economic downturn meanwhile Poland has continued to grow economically, therefore it has supposed several changes on the attractiveness of these countries from the perspective of migration. Through the analysis and comparison of international statistics about economic factors for migration this research has examined the evolution, effects and extension of current changes on migration flow of two countries of Europe with different economic situation that is affecting their future migration tendencies. The results have shown that 1) Changes on the economics factors are immediately reflected on the migration flow; 2) the deterioration of these factors in Spain has changed its status as destination country to a country with increasing emigration 3) opposite circumstances have declined the higher migration of Poland, but further investment in Research and Development should be necessary to maintain the economic development.
