Abstract The efficiency of urban transportation is getting more and more important because of the increasing rate of mobility demand. To plan, control and organize urban transportation in the most efficient way, we also need to consider the aspects of land use. To handle both of the mentioned urban planning areas together, we shall develop models, which are able to pay attention to all of their restrictive factors in the most simple way. It is a possible solution to simulate the urban area through a linear programming model.

The article aims to examine the relationship between road transport and macro economy, especially the use of fossil energy in transport sector. Nowadays environmental pollution is a key issue on the EU level as well as in Hungary. Lots of effort have been already done in order to decrease emissions in road transport, but a lot more need to be done. The article aims to prove that the only possible solution is technological innovation in order to reach emission reduction target without decline of the GDP. The basic idea is to ensure sustainable development, to decrease environmental pollution in road transport without harming the economy. In the EU and in Hungary road vehicles are powered by fossil fuelled internal combustion engines. This paper aims to analyse the role of the fossil fuel-based road transport sector within the economy with the usage of constant elasticity substitution (CES) production functions. Authors have built CES production function for Hungary. Parameters were calculated based on the validated model.

Abstract This contribution aims to examine the relationship between the transport sector and the macroeconomy, particularly in fossil energy use, capital and labour relations. The authors have investigated the transport related fossil fuel consumption 2003 -2010 in a macroeconomic context in Hungary and Germany. The Cobb-Douglas type of production function could be justified empirically, while originating from the general CES (Constant Elasticity of Substitution) production function. Furthermore, as a policy implication, the results suggest that a solution for the for the reduction of anthropogenic CO2 driven by the combustion of fossil fuels presupposes technological innovation to reach emission reduction targets. Other measures, such as increasing the fossil fuel price by levying taxes, would consequently lead to an undesirable GDP decline.

Abstract To effectuate a consistent methodology for urban planning taking into consideration the viewpoints of land use and transportation, we need to approach the subject and consider complex social and economical aspects. To handle both of the above mentioned urban planning areas, we shall develop models able to pay attention to all of their restrictive factors within temporal properties.

AbstractIn the paper, possible pricing structures of flexible transport systems have been investigated. After a brief introduction into demand responsive systems, the currently used pricing systems have been analysed. Having reviewed the conventional pricing methodologies – in line with the average cost and marginal cost based methods – the advantages and the disadvantages of particular systems are presented. What is more, that traditional pricing theory enabled to order costs of flexible transportation systems only approximately to passengers in proportion to their demanded transportation performance, thus traditional pricing framework is not able to fully meet the principle of fairness. For reaching the highest level of fairness loops a fictive unit of individual trips is introduced as the base of pricing. When applying individual loops is gives a unique approach to describe unit cost of the operators especially considering that empty runs are taken into account in a fair way. Beside fairness, it is als...

Spatial general equilibrium models are worldwidely used for investigating the effects of transport investments. SCGE models can improve thw weak points of CBA analisys and quantitave measurment tools. Useability of SCGE models are proven in dozens of case studies. The reaserch aims to introduce the possibilities in reference to involving road safety decesion making processes related to companies.

As the rapid growth of world population and its concentration in cities around the globe takes place, sustainable urban development has constituted a crucial element affecting the long-term outlook of humanity (Auclair, 1997). Besides, in the urbanized areas a high level of GDP (gross domestic product) concentration can be observed. That should make us care for the operational efficiency of the urban areas more and more studiously. Dynamic and continuous horizontal and vertical growth of urban areas makes the question of efficiency more and more important. Handling productivity concentration has been a key issue for economists and solving transportation problems – due to population concentration – has been just as important for engineers for a long time. Representatives of abysmally separated scientific fields tried to solve the efficiency problems of certain areas which can be characterised by lack of capacities, extreme population and productivity density.
