First record of Rhinella poeppigii (Tschudi, 1845) in Brazil (Anura, Bufonidae)

Nathocley Mendes Venâncio; Marco Antonio de Freitas; Arthur Diesel Abegg; Marcelo Nogueira de Carvalho Kokubum

Rhinella poeppigii, member of the Rhinella marina group, which currently consists of 11 species, inhabits primarily cloud forests in the central Andes of Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia, reaching lowlands adjacent to the Andes, at elevations of 260–1800 m. This work presents the first record of R. poeppigii in Brazil, from the municipality of Assis Brasil, in the state of Acre. This record extends the distribution of the species 242 km northeast of the nearest record in Explorer’s Inn, Madre de Dios province, Peru.

Flora Roncolatto Ortiz; Frederico de Alcântara Menezes; Arthur Diesel Abegg; Emmanuel Michel Jacques Landroz; Renato Neves Feio

Melanophryniscus moreirae is recorded from a fifth locality. A specimen was collected in Serra do Papagaio, municipality of Alagoa, Minas Gerais, Brazil, 18 km southeast from the nearest previous record in Aiuruoca. This new record fills a gap of about 32 km in the distribution of the species, between Itamonte and Aiuruoca.

Hydrops martii (Wagler, 1824) (Serpentes, Dipsadidae): first record in Amapá state, northern Brazil

Omar Machado Entiauspe-Neto; Arthur Diesel Abegg; Rodrigo Tavares Pinheiro; Leandro Malta Borges; Daniel Loebmann

Hydrops martii is a poorly known water snake of the tribe Hydropsini, which has been extensively found across northern South America. In this study, we present the first record in Amapá, based on a single specimen from the municipality of Macapá (0.0333, –51.0666), in the tropical moist broad-leafed forests of northern Brazil. This record extends the species range ca 195 km north from its nearest known record, on Marajó Island, in Pará, in the same ecoregion.

First confirmed record of Atractus maculatus (Serpentes, Dipsadidae) from the state of Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil

Arthur Diesel Abegg; Marco Antonio de Freitas; Geraldo Jorge Barbosa de Moura

Atractus maculatus , classified as Data Deficient by the Brazil’s Ministerio do Meio Ambiente, is recorded from a sixth known locality. The specimen was collected in the municipality of Paudalho, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. New record and distribution extension of Atractus paraguayensis Werner, 1924 (Serpentes: Dipsadidae) [with erratum]

Omar Machado Entiauspe-Neto; Arthur Diesel Abegg

The dipsadid ground snake, Atractus paraguayensis , occurs in Southern Brazil, Southern Paraguay and Argentina.
