Polybenzimidazole (PBI) fibers are produced from polybenzimidazole polymer which has a high thermal and chemical strength with a long chain aromatic structure. These fibers are first used in protective technical textile products due to their good moisture regain and textile performance properties like good hand and drape. Today, in addition to protective textile market, they are also used in environmental friendly applications such as filtration, fuel cell and carbon capture systems. In this review, production, properties and application areas of polybenzimidazole (PBI) fibers are discussed

Sun, which is a life source for humans, plants and animals, radiates rays with different wavelengths. A part of these rays are referred to UV rays, and high dosage of these rays can result in many negative effects on humans such as allergies, sunburns, skin aging and even skin cancer. Textile products can be used to prevent these negative effects. Various chemical agents can be applied to textile materials to impart UV protection. Various alternatives have been investigated instead of these chemicals due to their potential problems such as their environmental issues. Natural dyes can impart UV protection properties to textile materials without giving damage to environment and human health. In the literature, there are many studies in respect of UV protection properties of textile materials treated with natural dyes. In this review, detailed information about UV protection of textile materials provided by the natural dyes is given

Poly(trimethylene terephtalate) (PTT) is an aromatic polyester which has remarkable properties. Due to its superior properties, PTT becomes popular in textile industry. In the first years of PTT production, PTT material could not capture expected attention due to its high raw material costs. However, after the reduction on raw material costs, PTT production has increased due to its superior material properties. PTT can be dyed easily at low temperatures and it has high elasticity properties. Due to its notable features, PTT primarily began to be used in carpet production, and also in many other textile applications. Our review of poly(trimethylene terephtalate) (PTT) fibre is divided into two parts. Part I of this review gives information about fibres production, properties, performance, environmental impact, and end-use applications. The aim of Part II is to review the wet processing (pretreatment, dyeing, clearing, subsequent finishing treatments, etc.) of the PTT fibre and these effects on the fibre. These review was accomplished through a broad literature survey, including recent research and development in the area.

Poly (trimethilene terephtalate) (PTT), which is an elastic aromatic polyester, can be dyed with disperse dyes at atmospheric conditions without the need of carriers due to its low glass transition temperature (Tg). PTT fibers can exhibit good fastness properties in spite of its low Tg. This study, which is Part II of a review study, gives information on the wet processing (pretreatment, dyeing, clearing, subsequent finishing treatments etc.) of PTT fiber and its effects on the fiber. This was accomplished through a broad literature survey including recent researches and developments in the area.

PBT(Poly (buthylene terephtalate)) is an (semi) aromatic polyester. Due to their high elasticity property and ease of dyeing at lower temperatures, PBT fibers are started to be used popularly in the textile industry, especially in carpet manufacture and in many other textile applications and these fibres are being used globally with an increasing rate. In this study information on the production processes, properties, end-use applications and dyeing of poly(buthylene terephtalate) (PBT) fibres is given. With this aim, a wide range of survey on the previous studies including recent research and development on the subject was accomplished.
