ABSTRACT This study was carried out to investigate the behavioural responses of white and bronze turkeys to tonic immobility (TI), gait score (GS) and open field (OF) tests in a free-range system. 144 female turkeys (72 white and 72 bronze) were studied for 23 weeks. They were 32 weeks old. The stocking density was 2 birds/m2 indoors and 0.66 birds/m2 outdoors. Both bird genotypes were fed on a diet containing 16% crude protein and 11.7 ME MJ/kg. The birds were weighed in the 32nd, 35th, 48th and 55th week. The turkeys’ behaviour was determined by TI, GS and OF tests. Behavioural parameters were established for each applied test. Although the mortality rates of white and bronze turkeys during the study were 6% and 3%, respectively, the white turkeys showed better results in the TI and OF tests suggesting that are more native breed than bronze ones. The results indicate that bronze turkeys are more suited for use in free-range systems than white turkeys with respect to GS and the consequent mortality rates in latter ones.

The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of Nosema disease caused by Nosema ceranae and Nosema apis in bee colonies in Kirsehir. A hundred worker honey bee samples were collected from each of 51 beekeepers in 31 locations in 5 provinces of Kirsehir (Centrium, Mucur, Akpinar, Boztepe and Kaman) in July 2014. A total 5100 samples were used in this study. The microscopic examinations of the study suggested that there was existence of Nosema spores in Centrium, Mucur, Akpinar and Boztepe with 25%, 23.07%, 12.5% and 60%, respectively; whereas no spores were detected in Kaman province. It was found a positive correlation between humidity and numbers of nosema spores. Molecular analyses showed that N. ceranae is only Nosema type in studied all positive samples.

The aim of this study was to identify and assessthe growth retardation observed with increasing temperatures and led to economic losses at a rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss )farm at the Karaova Dam Lake within the province of Kirsehir, and to perform a poissonregression analysis and estimation on the effect of temperature. During the study, fish demonstrating signs of growth retardation were identified. For the studied rainbow trout, the value of the Pearson statistic was determined as 9.14, the deviation statistic as 7.53, and the artificial R 2 as 78.15, and the Chisquared goodness of fit as 21.11.Based on the poissonregression analysis, it was determined that temperature levels had an adverse effect on fish growth.
