BackgroundCosmetic surgery is no longer just for females. More men are opting for cosmetic procedures, with marked increases seen in both minimally invasive and surgical options over the last decade. Compared to females, relatively little work has specifically focused on factors predicting males’ attitudes toward cosmetic surgery. Therefore, we evaluated a number of variables that may predict some facet of men’s attitudes toward cosmetic surgery according to evidence reported in the literatureMethodsA total of 151 male patients who applied for a surgical or minimally invasive cosmetic surgery procedure (patient group) and 151 healthy male volunteers who do not desire any type of cosmetic procedure (control group) were asked to fill out questionnaires about measures of body image, media exposure (television and magazine), social network site use, masculine gender role stress and religious attitudes.ResultsOur findings showed that lower ratings of body image satisfaction, increased time spent watching television, more frequent social network site use and higher degrees of masculine gender role stress were all significant predictors of attitudes toward cosmetic surgery among males.ConclusionThe current study confirmed the importance of body image dissatisfaction as a predictor of the choice to undergo cosmetic procedure. More importantly, a new predictor of cosmetic procedure attitudes was identified, namely masculine gender role stress. Finally, we demonstrated the effects television exposure and social network site use in promoting acceptance of surgical and nonsurgical routes to appearance enhancement.Level of Evidence VThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. ABSTRACT This study was carried out to investigate the behavioural responses of white and bronze turkeys to tonic immobility (TI), gait score (GS) and open field (OF) tests in a free-range system. 144 female turkeys (72 white and 72 bronze) were studied for 23 weeks. They were 32 weeks old. The stocking density was 2 birds/m2 indoors and 0.66 birds/m2 outdoors. Both bird genotypes were fed on a diet containing 16% crude protein and 11.7 ME MJ/kg. The birds were weighed in the 32nd, 35th, 48th and 55th week. The turkeys’ behaviour was determined by TI, GS and OF tests. Behavioural parameters were established for each applied test. Although the mortality rates of white and bronze turkeys during the study were 6% and 3%, respectively, the white turkeys showed better results in the TI and OF tests suggesting that are more native breed than bronze ones. The results indicate that bronze turkeys are more suited for use in free-range systems than white turkeys with respect to GS and the consequent mortality rates in latter ones.

This study was carried out in Bingol province on eastern Anatolian Region between 2013 and 2015. In this study, we obtained 14 bitter vetch genotypes from different sources. The experiment was carried our in three replications in randomized block design. Each plant was weekly measured for 6 weeks starting from germination. For each plant, plant height, fresh and dry stem weight, fresh and dry leaf weights were determined. Logistic, Richards and Weibull growth models were fitted to describe the growth pattern of the genotypes. The best fitting model criteria used were coefficient of determination and mean squared. Richards’s growth model was found to best fit the data for most of the genotypes. Logistic model was the worst fit. In Turkey, climate and soil properties have very large variations. For this, local genotypes showed large variation according to plating areas. YEREL LICE genotype showed more stable and it is the height identified all growth models than other local genotypes. However, IFVE 2923 SEL and IFVE 2977 SEL 2802 these genotypes gave positive results in different environmental conditions.

Beans are grown in different environments. The most important issue in bean agriculture is to increase seed yield as expected in other plants. As well reported so far, environmental factors such as rain, heat, their timing and topography affect yield and yield quality in dry beans. So, this study was conducted in 2011-2015 in Samsun (Ambarkopru and Gelemen) and Kirsehir (Mucur and Cogun) locations in order to investigate the effects of the environmental factors on dry bean. For this aim, 20 dry bean genotypes (7 cultivars and 13 pure lines) were used as plant materials. Results showed that G5, G11 and G15 genotypes were close to ideal genotypes. When the year was considered as the environmental factor, the ideal production year was in 2013 with respect to yield and yield quality, concluding that climate changes between years affected yield parameters in dry bean genotypes.

The aim of this study was to use as an alternative to MSS estimators M of Robust Regression estimators method is to examine the outlier in Japanese quail body weight data. During 15 weeks in the study, body weight measurements of 150 Japanese quails were recorded weekly. To determine the effect of outliers, quails were randomly divided into three groups and 10, 20 and 30 samplings were performed from each group, respectively. To conclude, it was concluded that the estimator M of outliers on the results of estimation methods can be used with success in this regard. Also, the number of samples increases that marred the outliers was identified and therefore they cannot emerge.

Characterization, conservation, and utilization of genetic resources is essential for the sustainability in agriculture. Plant genetic resources are important for breeding efforts designed for the generation of new cultivars or for the improvement of existing ones. Green bean has been cultivated extensively in Turkey giving rise to local accessions through selection over time and adaptation to various environmental conditions. The objective of the present study was to determine the genetic relationships of green bean accessions collected from Kırşehir Province of Turkey, located at the central Anatolia. Within a population of 275 green bean accessions, 50 accessions were selected on the basis of morphological observations for further evaluation with SSR and STS/SCAR markers together with 4 reference cultivars of Andean and Mesoamerican origin. SSR markers selected on the basis of high polymorphism information content revealed the genetic relatedness of selected green bean accessions. STS/SCAR markers associated with bean anthracnose, common bacterial blight, white mold, halo blight, and phaseolin protein demonstrated the inheritance of resistance traits of local accessions at the selected loci. These findings may help better utilize genetic resources and furthermore are expected to facilitate forthcoming breeding studies for the generation of novel cultivars well adapted to the region.
