The approach for Enterprise modelling extended by the management point of view is presented. The enterprise processes, management functions, and their interactions are considered as the critical components of the domain knowledge accumulated for the IS engineering purposes. The resulting framework for knowledge-based IS engineering - Enterprise meta-model (EMM) is developed and presented in this paper. The architecture of the advanced CASE system is also discussed.

The quality of requirements phase specifications is decisive for the success of information systems development process, because the later a problem is found the more expensive it is to solve. The article analyses requirements phase of information system implementation and ISO standards, which specify them. The main scope of the article is to analyze the influence of ISO standards to information systems engineering process. Main scientific object is ISO standards and UML models integration with knowledge-based enterprise model. There is proposed methodology of UML models generation from enterprise model based on ISO standards, which ensures the avoidance of empirically based information system engineering process, where found problems can cause expensive reengineering process of information system.

The main scope of the paper is to present UML diagrams generation process from enterprise model. The paper analyzes the differences between traditional information systems (IS) engineering and knowledge-based engineering. There is proposed to use knowledge-based subsystem for the purpose of avoiding empirically based IS development process.

Knowledge-Based MDA is IS development approach created using core MDA components (models and transformations) as well as the basic elements of Knowledge Based IS engineering (Enterprise Model, Enterprise Meta- Model). This approach enhances basic MDA with Enterprise Model and two transformations in order to improve user requirements acquisition and enterprise modeling stages of IS development process.

The paper deals with knowledge-based enterprise management modeling and user requirements acquisition. The enterprise management is considered from the control point of view, management function is formally predefined as Elementary Management Cycle (EMC). Few new types of specialized Workflow models are deployed for domain knowledge elicitation and BP analysis. Two types of logical gaps are identified by transformations of empirical BP model to knowledge based BP model.

The main scope of the research is to analyse Unified Modelling Language (UML) models generation process from Enterprise Model (EM) in Information Systems (IS) development process by using knowledge-based subsystem. The knowledge-based subsystem is proposed as an additional computer aided software engineering (CASE) tool component to avoid IS development process based on empirics. For comprehensible perception there is also presented relation between EM and ontologies and its use in generation process.

As organizations grow and IS get bigger it is needed to create accurate and complicated analyzes for developing systems. This analyzes are base for design of business models and system architecture. Designers every day face new challenges when they need to collide and understand other designers’ and analytics’ made models. This process creates new problems and mistakes. Automatization of IS engineering process lets create better and more qualified models with less mistakes. The article is about MOF architecture’s role in IS engineering process and about possibilities to improve MOF architecture’s composition with new knowledge based layer. The main scope of the article is to analyze improved MOF architecture’s usage in UML models generation with transformation algorithms from enterprise model process.

Enhancement of MDA process with Knowledge Base Subsystem is aimed to reduce risk of project failures caused by inconsistent user requirements caused by insufficient problem domain knowledge. The enhancement of IS development environment with Enterprise Knowledge Base is discussed in this article. The major parts of Knowledge Base Subsystem are Enterprise Meta-Model, Enterprise Model and transformation algorithms.

The main scope of the article is to present how the quality of stored problem domain information in Enterprise model (EM) is significant and important in Unified Modelling Language (UML) models generation process from Enterprise model. The generation process is explained by top-level transformation algorithm, which is presented in details and depicted by using algorithm’s step by step description. The importance of information quality and fullness is represented by the example of Business Rule element’s, which is stored in Enterprise model, significance for different UML models.
