One of the ways to capture enterprise knowledge is Enterprise Architecture (EA). EA allows indentifying the majority of software to-be requirements for information systems (IS) engineering. However, the transition between enterprise architecture model and IT resource design still lacks a clear approach and tools for implementing it in practice. The paper presents an approach for the enterprise knowledge based software requirements elicitation. The suggested approach is based on the Unified profile for Ministry of Defence Architecture Framework (MODAF) and Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), System Modeling Language (SysML) requirements model, and a Semantics of Business Vocabulary and Business Rules (SBVR) standard as a formal background for elicited software requirements. A real world example is presented to validate the suitability of the approach. http://dx.doi.org/10.5755/j01.itc.40.3.626

New developments in the area of computer-aided system engineering (CASE) greatly improve processes of the information systems development life cycle (ISDLC). Much effort is put into the quality improvement issues, but IS development projects still suffer from the poor quality of models during the system analysis and design cycles. At some degree, quality of models that are developed using CASE tools can be assured using various. automated. model comparison, syntax. checking procedures. It. is also reasonable to check these models against the business domain knowledge, but the domain knowledge stored in the repository of CASE tool (enterprise model) is insufficient (Gudas et al. 2004). Involvement of business domain experts into these processes is complicated because non- IT people often find it difficult to understand models that were developed by IT professionals using some specific modeling language.

The Knowledge-Based Enterprise Modelling framework is based on the redefined concept of the knowledge-based enterprise. The Strategic Alignment Framework by Henderson and Venkatraman is modified and used for description of Knowledge-based Enterprise structure. The Enterprise Knowledge Base together with explicitly defined knowledge management activity is treated as the major component of the knowledge-based enterprise. Four domains of the knowledge-based enterprise are abstracted from the enterprise architecture point of view. The process-oriented Knowledge-based Enterprise Model is presented by modifying the Porters Value Chain Model (VCM). The Knowledge management layer is identified within the modified VCM. Two types of control loops are identified between layers of the Knowledge-Based Enterprise Model.

Paper deals with the principles of model-driven UML Class model enhancement using business rules (BR) as a source of domain knowledge. Business rules are stored in BR repository which is defined by the business rules meta-model. Templates for business rules formalization are presented. Co-relations between BR meta-model and extended UML Class meta-model are also presented and discussed in this paper. Basic steps of the algorithm for the extended UML Class model enhancement are presented and illustrated with example.

The paper presents knowledge-based enterprise modeling framework (KBEM) for the development of an enterprise knowledge base. The knowledge base together with explicitly defined knowledge management activity is concerned as the major component of the knowledge-based enterprise. The KBEM is developed by redefining business process concept of porters value chain model (VCM) and by identifying knowledge management layer. Knowledge management layer further is decomposed and KBEM is represented as formalized enterprise knowledge structure. Derived knowledge structure forms the background for the development of the enterprise knowledge base

The paper deals with knowledge-based enterprise management modeling and user requirements acquisition. The enterprise management is considered from the control point of view, management function is formally predefined as Elementary Management Cycle (EMC). Few new types of specialized Workflow models are deployed for domain knowledge elicitation and BP analysis. Two types of logical gaps are identified by transformations of empirical BP model to knowledge based BP model.
