Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is often used for solving RFID Network Planning (RNP) problems. However, the direct correlation between RNP parameters (coordinates and power settings of RFID readers) and PSO solutions is rarely shown. This is due to the fact that most researches done in this field focus more on the development of new variants of PSO and the optimization result. For that reason, this paper tends to investigate the correlation between RNP parameters and PSO solutions. One of RNP objectives (Optimal Tag Coverage) is taken as an example. The formula of optimal tag coverage is elaborated in order to expose the allocation of RNP parameters in the formula. In addition, a representation system for embedding RNP parameters in PSO solution is explained. This paper can also serves as an early guideline for solving RNP problems using PSO algorithm.

Nowadays, with rapid development and higher technology in portable computer development. Computer widely used to control machine and other electrical component. With availability of new software and hardware that can easily bought in the market, user will chose the software or hardware with the easiest and interactive way for control and monitoring purpose. This paper present prototype of educational pneumatic machine with replacement of PLC or Programmable Logic Controller that being used before to control part or pneumatic and electro pneumatic components using Data Acquisition Card (DAQ) and Xbee (ZigBee module)for wireless communication. NI LabVIEW as software used to create a fully functional SCADA measurement application with analysis and a custom user interface. The developed prototype did show that machine monitoring and control using LabVIEW and DAQ is reliable and easy to use software for GUI applications.

There are various RFID Network Planning optimization problems that can be effectively solved by Metaheuristic Algorithms. Firefly and MC-GPSO algorithms are the state-of-art algorithms in this area. This paper presents a comparative study between these two Meta-heuristic algorithms for solving a large-scale RNP network and analyzing their performance in terms of required number of readers, tag coverage and interference between reader propagation areas. The results show that firefly algorithm has a better optimization quality in comparison with MC-GPSO algorithm for solving hard NP problems.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system has multiple benefits which can improve the operational efficiency of the organization. The advantages are the ability to record data systematically and quickly, reducing human errors and system errors, update the database automatically and efficiently. It is often more readers (reader) is needed for the installation purposes in RFID system. Thus, it makes the system more complex. As a result, RFID network planning process is needed to ensure the RFID system works perfectly. The planning process is also considered as an optimization process and power adjustment because the coordinates of each RFID reader to be determined. Therefore, algorithms inspired by the environment (Algorithm Inspired by Nature) is often used. In the study, PSO algorithm is used because it has few number of parameters, the simulation time is fast, easy to use and also very practical. However, PSO parameters must be adjusted correctly, for robust and efficient usage of PSO. Failure to do s...

Remanufacturing operations deal with numerous types of used products and parts. For that reason, any missing parts will lead to the extension of remanufacturing lead-time because searching for the missing parts is time consuming. In order to detect the real-time locations for used parts, this paper proposes the application of RFID technology. A proof of concept RFID system is developed on SISCOM Assembly Cell-200. SISCOM is assumed as a small scale remanufacturing facility. The RFID system middleware is developed using LabVIEW 9 and the database is built using PHP & phpMyAdmin. With the availability of this system, the location of missing parts can be detected and the remanufacturing labor hours can be focused on value added activities.
