In this work we present preliminary results of the continuum discretized coupled channel (CDCC) calculation for the 8B+12C system at energies near the Coulomb barrier. In the three‐body cluster model of the proton halo projectile the Sao Paulo potential was used as a bare potential. We study the relative relevance of the Coulomb and nuclear breakups and its interference. The importance of each multipolarity of the interaction potential expansion is studied in detail. The polarization potentials are also generated and its energy dependence is studied. The effect of the continuum‐continuum couplings for this light system is analyzed. The results for this system are compared with the previous ones for the 8B+58Ni system, as the charge of the 12C target is smaller.

Angular distributions for the elastic scattering of {sup 8}B, {sup 7}Be, and {sup 6}Li on a {sup 12}C target have been measured at E{sub lab}=25.8, 18.8, and 12.3 MeV, respectively. The analyses of these angular distributions have been performed in terms of the optical model using Woods-Saxon and double-folding type potentials. The effect of breakup in the elastic scattering of {sup 8}B+{sup 12}C is investigated by performing coupled-channels calculations with the continuum discretized coupled-channel method and cluster-model folding potentials. Total reaction cross sections were deduced from the elastic-scattering analysis and compared with published data on elastic scattering of other weakly and tightly bound projectiles on {sup 12}C, as a function of energy. With the exception of {sup 4}He and {sup 16}O, the data can be described using a universal function for the reduced cross sections.

Breakup and elastic scattering in the Be + 144Sm system, at near barrier energies, are investigated. We calculate theoretically the non‐capture breakup cross section by performing coupled reaction channel calculations. The energy dependence of the optical potential does not show the usual threshold anomaly found in tightly bound systems.

We analyze the data for complete fusion of the {sup 9}Be+{sup 144}Sm system at near barrier energies by performing coupled channel calculations using a double-folding potential as the bare potential. We use a recently proposed new method of analysis by the introduction of dimensionless fusion functions. We observe enhancement of the fusion cross section at energies below the Coulomb barrier and suppression above the barrier.

Elastic scattering of the weakly bound {sup 6}Li on {sup 27}Al was measured at near-barrier energies. The data analysis was performed using a Woods-Saxon shape optical potential and also using the double-folding Sao Paulo potential. The results show the presence of the breakup threshold anomaly (BTA), an anomalous behavior when compared with the scattering of tightly bound nuclei. This behavior is attributed to a repulsive polarization potential produced by the coupling to the continuum breakup states.
