Abstract An efficient and convenient synthesis of benzofurans has been described from phenacyl halides and o-hydroxy benzaldehyde in the presence of DABCO. The procedure is applicable for a variety of phenacyl halides and provide a variety of benzofurans. DABCO act as a base and as well as nucleophile. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

A series of N-((1-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methyl)nicotinamides (4) was synthesized and tested for their anticancer activity against a panel of 60 human cancer cell lines. Some of the representative compounds such as 4a, 4b, 4f, 4g, 4i and 4t were selected for the five dose study and amongst them 4g and 4i displayed significant anticancer activity with GI50 values ranging from 0.25 to 8.34 and 1.42 to 5.86μM, respectively. Cell cycle analysis revealed that these compounds induced cell cycle arrest at G2/M phase in MCF-7 cells. The most active compound in this series 4g also inhibited tubulin polymerization with IC50 value 1.93μM superior to that of E7010. Moreover, assay to investigate the effect on caspase-9, Hoechst staining and DNA fragmentation analysis suggested that these compounds induced cell death by apoptosis. Docking experiments showed that they interact and bind efficiently with tubulin protein. Overall, the results demonstrate that N-((1-benzyl-1H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)methyl)nicotinamide scaffold possess anticancer property by inhibiting the tubulin polymerization.

Recently, a lot of attention has been paid to infrared imaging using uncooled microbolometer detectors, primarily because of their low cost, and wide military and civilian applications like disaster rescue, night vision, homing and tracking, ecology and weather forecasting, target acquisition, predictive inspection and maintenance, surveillance, remote temperature sensing and medical diagnostic and treatment. The present work demonstrates the design and simulation of uncooled microbolometer detector using Coventorware tool. Geometrical optimization has been done to minimize the pixel size up to 18×18 µm. Simulated values for Different parameters like Thermal conductance, Time constant and change in temperature calculated for the structure are 1.2 × 10−7W/K, 4.44ms and 3.5K.

HIND AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH AND TRAINING INSTITUTE ABSTRACT : The findings of a field trial conducted in 2012-13 and 2013-14 to assess different cultivars of strawberry in Supaul district of Bihar revealed that short day cultivars were more tolerant to insect pests than day neutral cultivars, particularly in later stage of fruit development leading to record higher yield. It was also revealed that a suitable micro-climate was required for optimum plant growth, higher crop yield and the best quality fruits. Festival was found to be the best performing variety in respect of weight per fruit, yield and marketable fruit quality having maximum growth, plant height (21.34cm), flowering duration (60.09 days), fruiting duration (55.62 days) and yield (15.26 tons/ha).

Self Assembled Monolayer was deposited on silicon substrate using 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMS). The diffusion barrier properties of this layer against copper diffusion were studied. For this purpose, Cu/SiO2/Si and Cu/SAM/SiO2/Si structures were compared. The samples were annealed at various temperatures in vacuum ambient. The characterization was performed using X-Ray diffraction, Four Probe Resistivity measurement and Capacitance-Voltage technique. C-V measurement was performed by applying Bias Thermal Stress (BTS). XRD Results indicated that combination of SiO2/SAM worked as diffusion barrier layer up to 600 °C whereas SiO2 could work as barrier only up to 400 °C.
