This paper presents our work on the test bed implementation of hybrid ad hoc network. In mobile ad hoc network (MANET), nodes are equipped with wireless device which provides self-managing and self-organizing capability, even when there is no network infrastructure present. Ad hoc hybrid network which enables mobile nodes to form instant communication without depending on infrastructure network can communicate with the other devices through LAN or Internet. The function of ad hoc network is very much dependent on the routing protocol that determines the path between nodes in network. ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) is a kind of a reactive routing protocol for ad hoc network. This protocol is the most popular and widely used routing protocol in research and deployment. In this work, we review and implement AODV routing protocol in a testbed consisting of some PCs, laptops (using Linux Red Hat 9.0 and Fedora Core 2), and PDAs Hewlett Packard iPAQ 5550 series (using Linux Familiar v0.7.2 with Opie 1.2). We particularly focus on the AODV-UU routing protocol. We provide packages (by cross compiling) AODV for PocketPC (PDA), and evaluate the packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, and routing overhead of different ad-hoc hybrid network topologies. The testbed implementation result for the average packet delivery ratio is 99.57%, and the end-to-end delay is 1.004 s and the routing overhead is 1,360.36 bps.

Implementing web data extraction means we can directly extract data from various web pages, where they mostly formed in an unstructured HTML format, into a new structured format such as XML or XHTML. In this paper we review the implementation of web data extraction and stages in making a Mashup. We implement web data extraction by visually extract targeted data from data sources (web pages). Afterward, we combined web data extraction with the stages of making a Mashup, e.g. data retrieval, data source modeling, data cleaning/ filtering, data integration and data visualization. Problems arise in querying data sources due to unstructured contents of web pages (HTML), we cannot directly extract data into a new structured form. To address this problem, we propose a system, called Xtractorz, that can perform web data extraction in a Mashup format. We provide a fully visual and interactive user interface with new technique and approach using PHP and AJAX as the programming languages, and MySQL as the Data Repository. Furthermore, Xtractorz enables the user to conduct their job without the need to write a script or program or even without any knowledge of computer programming. The test results shows that Xtractorz requires less number of steps in making a Mashup compared with RoboMaker and Karma.

This paper outlines the design and simulation of a packet forwarding algorithm between integrated services and differentiated services network domains. The algorithm forward packets from guaranteed class-of-service flows into the expedited forwarding PHB. The algorithm is assumed to be implemented in a pipelined processor configuration that separate the input and output packet processing functions. The remaining jitter value is used to determine the packet forwarding priority. Measures of throughput and ratio of packet loss are given. From the simulation we learned that this algorithm yields to good packet throughput and tolerable packet loss ratio.

The convergence between WLAN and optical fiber has created a new challenge in network design. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive design simulation of hybrid network concerning the timeout of ACK and CTS, which determine the maximum length of optical fiber. Then, the result of simulation is used to predict the delay bound of inter-devices WLAN.

The crucial issue in the design of resource allocation algorithms for wireless mesh network is computational complexity. A high capacity algorithm with low computational complexity is desired, especially for dynamic topology adaptation in mobile mesh networks and also for the issue of low energy consumption. This paper proposes a new approach in the designing of a low complexity spatial time division multiple access link scheduling algorithm for wireless mesh network. In this paper, link scheduling is considered as a decision-making problem. This approach is contrary to physical interference model that requires SINR evaluation in global network. We propose the mesh coverage probability as a new performance metric in the design of mesh link scheduling algorithm. Based on this approach, we provide the tradeoff between spatial reuse and mesh coverage probability, which can be used as a benchmark in the design of scheduling algorithms for wireless mesh network.

Recent developments in the various researches suggests that the mechanisms and algorithms in resource allocation is widely seen as a major new opportunity to improve the wireless networks performance. In the wireless mesh network which is now seen as a potential topology candidate in future networks, spatial reuse exploitation in scheduling is one solution to extend network capacity. This paper provides the evaluation of the performance of the scheduling algorithm in a mesh network based on time division multiple access method by spatial reuse exploitation, in comparison with another basic time division multiple access method. This paper was used as a basis to examine the possibility of developing a wireless mesh network performance through the mechanism of resource allocation, in WiMAX case.

This paper describes and analyses the impact of user mobility on the QoS of video streaming application in mobile IPv6 network. Mobile IPv6 testbed is built according to RFC 3775. QoS parameters such as throughput, delay, and jitter, are measured and compared. Two scenarios are considered. Those are when mobile node moves inside its own link and when it is in handover process. The measuring process is conducted during the delivery of video streaming application, by capturing packets of data flowing and traversing mobile IPv6 network testbed. Packet filtering is performed to get the exact value of QoS parameters in UDP datagram packets. The result in each of the scenario is compared and analyzed to get the conclusion. The results show that the QoS of the mobile node that moves inside its own cell-regardless of its distance to the information source and how weakness the signal link is- is similar to QoS of the stationary node. The QoS of handover scenario is lower than the other scenario due connection reestablishment process between mobile node and correspondent node. We also find that QoS of mobile node returning to its home cell is similar to QoS of mobile node moving inside its own link.

The design of an intelligent controller based on fuzzy TS model for a pressure process rig is presented. The proposed controller consists of a fuzzy TS model, a feedback fuzzy TS model, and a low pass filter combined in an internal model control structure. The identification of the fuzzy TS model uses fuzzy clustering technique to mimic the nonlinearity characteristic of the process. Instead of least-squares algorithm, the instrumental variable method is used to estimate the consequent parameters of the fuzzy TS model in order to avoid inconsistency problem. The identified model is validated with the performance indicators variance-accounted-for and root mean square. By using the technique of inverse fuzzy model analytically, the feedback fuzzy controller is designed based on the identified fuzzy TS model. The performance of the proposed controller is verified through experiments at various operating points.

The interoperable capabilities between the mixed WLAN standards in the environment of hybrid network are subject to be discussed. In this case, the extended fiber link may achieve 21.7 km. Among the modulations and the access methods applied, it shows that the delay bound of 802.11g DSSS-OFDM 54 Mbps is reasonable, however, it offer the highest data rate.

The Scilab is freeware as launched by INRIA and ENPC. This paper explains the experience result of the simulation by Scilab to simulate RFID-based for red light violation detection. This simulation gives evidence of violation and prediction of vehicle flow. The violation can detect if the vehicles IDs have moved form one RFID Reader to the others. The flow prediction is executed by channel forward as distance form the RFID Reader. A randomization generates vehicle IDs, vehicle numbers and vehicle branch destination that can show the function of RFID reader to detect tags.
