Gingival choristoma: Report of a case

Abstract A case is presented in which both a fully mature sebaceous gland and an accessory mucous gland were found on the gingiva. Both of these structures are considered to be rare in this area of the oral cavity.

Bilateral congenital nasopalatine communication

Abstract An unusual case of a young adult demonstrating bilateral nasopalatal communications with clinical symptoms is described. Patency of the incisive canals in adults is an extremely rare condition. The embryogenesis and morphology of the incisive canals and the nasopalatine ducts as it relates to this phenomenon is described.

Severe oral infection associated with prolonged steroid therapy: Report of a case

Abstract Corticosteroids are commonly employed in the treatment of a variety of bodily disorders because of their anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic actions and their metabolic effects. Their long-term usage is often accompanied by a variety of side effects, one of which is the suppression of the inflammatory response. This henomenon can predispose to spontaneous infections of a severe nature. The diagnosis and management of such infections, when they occur in the oral cavity, can be extremely difficult, as evidenced by the case report presented herein.
