La reagrupación familiar en el ámbito municipal en España. Análisis comparado en región mediterrânea

We present in the article the results of a comparative research on the evolution of the process of family reunification of non-EU foreigners in Spain, Murcia and the town of Molina de Segura in the period 2007-2014. The evolution of family reunification is analyzed by accessing secondary sources. To characterize the profile of the reunified, we conducted structured interviews regarding the universe of applicants to report adequate housing for family reunification in Molina de Segura. It was applied a questionnaire to non-EU foreigners asking them to describe the trends in family reunification in Molina de Segura and for the conflicts in families regrouped conducted in-depth interviews with experts and strategic partners. The results show that the regulatory changes and the current economic crisis affect, among other factors, the processes of family reunification. In this context, it is necessary to increase the resources allocated to the municipal social services to support the effective integration of immigrants and maintain levels of social cohesion.
