Radiographic evaluation of the chronological development of permanent dentition in children infected with HIV

The objective of this study is to determine if there is an association between HIV infection in children and alterations in the chronological development of permanent dentition detectable by radiographic examination. The sample comprised two groups of children: (1) 50 children infected with HIV by vertical transmission and (2) 50 healthy children. The groups were paired according to age, sex, race, and socioeconomic level. After obtaining a panoramic radiograph, the stages of tooth calcification and the frequency of subjects showing alveolar eruption of the first and second mandibular permanent molars were determined. There was no significant difference in stages of tooth calcification and frequency of subjects showing alveolar eruption of the permanent molars between the groups (P > 0.05). Children infected with HIV by the vertical route showed upon radiographic examination stages of tooth calcification and alveolar eruption compatible with normal patterns. There is no association between HIV infection and alterations in the chronological development of the permanent teeth, detectable radiographically, in children infected by vertical transmission.

O estudo do texto em uma perspectiva enunciativa de linguagem

Este trabalho se sustenta na ideia de que a capacidade simbolica, base da significacao, e condicao de integracao humana a linguagem. Parte-se do pressuposto de que, a cada vez que a lingua e atualizada em discurso, via enunciacao, ha uma nova experiencia de significacao instaurada na linguagem. Nessa perspectiva, o artigo procura responder a seguinte questao: Como estudar o texto a partir de uma concepcao enunciativa de linguagem? A resposta a essa questao e formulada a partir da concepcao de que o texto, considerado discurso, resulta da atualizacao da lingua por um locutor, que, por nascer na cultura (Benveniste 1995; 1989), a cada ato de enunciacao, realiza um acontecimento diferente e novo para fazer a passagem a sujeito e, nessa passagem, registra o modo como se instaura nos valores culturais da sociedade em que vive. E, com esses principios, que o estudo enunciativo de um texto e proposto.

Enunciação e trabalho: a integração do homem à sua cultura profissional

O objetivo deste texto e entender como um autor da area de ciencias da saude enuncia a sua posicao de locutor para constituir o outro em um artigo de opiniao. Para tanto, alicerca-se a investigacao na nocao de linguagem de Emile Benveniste e busca-se apoio na perspectiva ergologica de Yves Schwartz. Inicialmente, apresenta-se uma concepcao cultural de homem atrelada a uma nocao simbolica de linguagem; em seguida, desloca-se essa teorizacao, pensando as areas de conhecimento como fatos culturais que imprimem valores na lingua e deixam marcas nos discursos dos campos de saber; por fim, analisa-se um artigo de opiniao da area da saude, relacionando as duas primeiras partes. ******************************************************** Enunciation and work: the integration of man to his professional culture The purpose of this text is to understand how an author of the health sciences enunciates his position of speaker for the constitution of the other person in an opinion article. For this reflection, we use as a basis Emile Benveniste’s notion of the language and we seek support from Yves Schwartz’s perspective of ergology. First, we present a cultural conception of “man” related to the notion of symbolic language. Then, we displace this theory, considering the knowledge areas as cultural facts that imprint values in the language and leave marks in discourse of the fields of knowledge. Dans ce travail, nous cherchons a explorer les notions depolyphonie (DUCROT, 1987 ; 1988 ; 1997), topoi (ANSCOMBRE etDUCROT, 1995) et modificateurs (DUCROT, 1995 ; 2002), etudiees parla Theorie de l’argumentation dans la langue, a partir de donnees d’enfantsâges de deux ans et cinq mois jusqu’a cinq ans et cinq mois. Les analysesmenees mettent en evidence le fait que les enfants, independamment deleur tranche d’âge, font valloir leurs prises de position en orientantargumentativement l’interlocuteur vers des conclusions determinees. Notrebut principal est de montrer la pertinence de quelques questions poseespar cette Theorie pour les recherches de la parole infantile.
