The objective of this research was to determinate the physics and economic bananas loss and its possible reason, in several retail trades in the city of Botucatu - SP. The equipments were drawn aleatory. The information were collected through questions applied to people to determine the annual loss of three different varieties of banana. The results showed that all loss was 39 ton., that represents 11,1% of all saled in retail trades, with 10,5% in supermarkets, 15% in grocery store/retail shops, and 10,6% in free markets. The retail trade showed an annual loss of R

35.038,00, in values of may/2002. The excessive handling by the client, excess offering inadequate packing, and low quality of fruit were the most important cause of losses. It was possible to conclude that, the clients behavior should be better, the plastic packing utilization, and caution in the handling during all the post harvest process.

ABSTRACT - The objective of this trial was to evaluate the influence of the cordon training and trellis, on bud fertility of the grapevine NiagaraRosada in the Region of Dourados, MS, during the period from May to June, 2004. The shoots were collected from 24 vineyards conducted oncordon-training or trellis. The bud fertility index was determined by the following ratios: number of primordia of inflorescenc e/primary buds, and thetotal number of buds/compound buds, and by the number of necrosed buds, from the first to the tenth dormant buds on the mature vine cane. Theexperimental design was complete randomized blocks with 12 repetitions, in a factorial 2x10. The factors studied were the cordo n training and thetrellis, and the bud position along the cane. The blocks consisted of 12 grapevines conduced on cordon-training and 12 conduced on trellis. Theexperimental unity consisted of 10 canes. Means were compared by the Tukey test at 5%. It has been concluded that grapevines co nducted on thetrellis presented higher averages on bud fertility when compared with cordon-training. The bud fertility presented increasing averages from thebasis to the terminal portion of the shoot, in both training systems.

With the objective of evaluating the effects of the gibberellic acid and thidiazuron on clusters characteristics of the grapevine Niagara Rosada, two trials were carried out. In the first trial, it was used gibberellic acid (AG3) 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 mg.l-1, applied in the bloom and repeated 14 days later (E1E2) and in the other treatment, the same compound and doses applied only once, 14 days after the bloom (E2); in the second experiment, thidiazuron (TDZ) 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 mg.l-1, applied four days before antesis and repeated six days after the bloom (E1E2); and in the other treatment, the same compound and doses applied only once six days after the bloom (E2). From the obtained results, it has been verified that the treatments with thidiazuron, increased the setting of the berries, resulting in the increment of the clusters mass and the significant thickening of rachis. The fruits treated with thidiazuron presented desuniform maturation, berries with reduced mass and size, compact clusters, with low commercial value. Increases in the number of berries with increments in the mass of the clusters, had been also observed with applications of gibberellic acid. For the variable mass of the clusters, the best results obtained from estimate of the regression equation have been verified with applications 54mg.L-1 gibberellic acid, with values of 198,8g.

M. mayaguensis) no Estado do Mato Grosso do Sul, parasitando goiabeira (Psidium guajava), cv. Novo Milenio.
