Additive Technologies and Materials for Realization of Elastic Elements

Daniel Besnea; Dana Rizescu; Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Elena Dinu; Victor Constantin; Edgar Moraru

The paper presents a method of realization of representative types of elastic elements by means of additive technologies with the presentation of the main functional characteristics based on solid material deposition, FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) technology, as well as the presentation of the main characteristics of the material used (PLA), highlighting domains and specific applications. Experimental results were obtained on a Hans Schmidt demonstration stand by comparing the deflections of various types of helical springs with circular, square and rectangular cross section.

Applications of Additive Technologies in the Food Industry

Daniel Besnea; Octavian Dontu; Victor Constantin; Alina Spanu; Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Edgar Moraru

The article presents a new concept that can be used in the food industry by manufacturing customized food products with 3D printers. This technique allows the production of personalized food products both as shape, colour, aroma and even as a nutritional value. Applications in the food industry can offer an engineering solution for new products and a tool for design specialists by creating food products with complex shapes that cannot be obtained by classical processes. Also, this technology can be a solution for researchers exploring cosmic space and long-distance space missions.

Innovative Solutions for Pneumatic Positioning Systems

Lucian Bogatu; Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Bogdan Grămescu; Dana Rizescu

A pneumatic system represents a safe and “clean” actuation mechanism. The paper presents several innovative solutions for such kind of systems. The aim is to increase the precision of positioning and especially its preservation, as it is known that, in the case of pneumatic positioning systems, these problems have not yet been solved. The proposed units provide an accurate positioning only on certain work areas, set by manual adjustment. At this moment, the presented solutions are in the prototype stage in the tests.

Experimental Research Relating to the Manufacture of Parts by the Addition of Material

Dana Rizescu; Ciprian Ion Rizescu

This work was developed at University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest and there were several challenges regarding technological aspects. Finally, we have succeeded in designing and manufacturing a printed object, according to required conditions. In the paper is presented as compared the manufacturing process by adding the material which uses the raw material in the solid state between two systems to print provided with a extruder and with two extruders. Thus, there were designed and printed a couple of physical models used in sporting activities, in accordance with the 3D models. There are presented some remarks about the quality for the two printing systems.

The Study of Pinion – Rack Mechanism Using Matlab and Spyder-Python

Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Dana Rizescu

The study presents a comparison between a graphic simulation of a pinion-rack mechanism operating developed both in Matlab and PYTHON environments. Also some remarks, concerning the software’s efficiency and an economic analysis efficiency-cost of the two software, are presented in this study which have an identical use/purpose.

Study on Inspection of Circular Parts Used in Mechatronics

Robert Ciobanu; Dana Rizescu; Ciprian Ion Rizescu

Classical methods for the inspection on a production line of circular profiles are characterized by a reduced flexibility, making them extremely expensive. This work provides a study on vision systems used for determining deviation from circularity of components used in mechatronics. The paper present a vision system that analyzes and processes the captured image of circular parts in an automatic mode in order to undertake the dimensional inspection. The proposed system has been tested for MR522ZEZO class miniature bearings. The inner diameter of MR522ZEZO bearing is 2 mm, which makes it unavailable for dimensional control by conventional methods. Experimental results show that the proposed system is able to perform an accurate dimensional control in automatic mode while ensuring high flexibility for distinct types and sizes of mechatronic components with circular profiles.

Study Concerning a Robotic System with Matlab/OpenCV Post-processing

Victor Constantin; Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Mihai Ciocan; Dana Rizescu

The paper presents the construction and operating mode of a platform for controlling mobile robots. A number of, at least, three independent mobile robots, who are to be entrusted with the supervision of the zones, will report via a 4G transmission, with a certain frequency of a central server the current position in the geographical coordinates. Latitude and longitude will be accompanied by photos received from a high-resolution camera and these images will be processed with a certain target for identifying an object with certain features. The system will be built around a hardware architecture open-source (for example Atmel, Raspberry PI). Another target of this paper is to present an example where we are going to examine an image processing and text extraction system that will compare an implementation done using the OpenImaj SWT algorithm and the Tesseract OCR compared to a implementation done in Matlab based on MSER. These services can then be called through a restful Web Service by any application, mobile or otherwise to extract text from images.

Rapid Prototyping a Way to Better Optical and Ergonomic Adaptation of Spectacles

Aurelian Ovidius Trufasu; Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Georgeta Sorohan; Andreea Trufasu

This paper explains and demonstrates how to use rapid prototyping to make human sight better compensate by aerial devices in according to optical prescription and facial profile. The paper show a way to improve or match the aerial devices (aka frames) with individual facial characteristics and deliver a customized solution to fit on face and keep device in place for general comfort and better sight. Examples used in this material are realized by authors themselves

Robot Control for Home Application

Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Mihai Ciocan; Dana Rizescu

This paper deals with controlling from a distance of NXT Mindstorms robot using mainly Matlab environment and a C# programmable interface. For robot control there is used an IIS application. This is very useful when the owner of the robot is not at home, but he has internet access. The owner of the robot can control the robot and find out what is happening at home. On the second hand, the robot is able to choose the moving path inside the house with the path planning application. The robot is equipped with a camera and the third facility of the robot is the spherical bodies recognition. Also there was developed a dedicated software for human faces detection.

Infrared Detection for Surveillance System

Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Bogdan Robert Vlad; Dana Rizescu

The paper deals with a surveillance system dedicated to close spaces which could be used in several situations: museums, banks, public institutions, airports. The authors continued a previous research [1] with applications in robotics. We developed a system based on detection with eight IR sensors and tracking with a video camera. This system has very good performances and a low price.
