Hardware Structures for High Precision Pneutronic Systems

Mihai Avram; Victor Constantin; Constantin Bucşan; Daniel Besnea; Alina Spanu

Pneutronic systems come with a series of advantages that are natural to working with compressed air, such as the large power/weight ratio of pneumatic actuators, easy and affordable installation and maintenance as well as being clean working systems. However, due to working with compressed air, there are a series of issues, such as static and transient nonlinear behavior, mostly due to the high compressibility of air. Thus, the behavior of such systems is hard to control, especially in terms of precision positioning. The paper deals with proposing three hardware configurations of pneutronic positioning systems in order to assure the imposed positioning accuracy in the presence of disturbances and the preservation in time of the obtained position.

Additive Technologies and Materials for Realization of Elastic Elements

Daniel Besnea; Dana Rizescu; Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Elena Dinu; Victor Constantin; Edgar Moraru

The paper presents a method of realization of representative types of elastic elements by means of additive technologies with the presentation of the main functional characteristics based on solid material deposition, FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) technology, as well as the presentation of the main characteristics of the material used (PLA), highlighting domains and specific applications. Experimental results were obtained on a Hans Schmidt demonstration stand by comparing the deflections of various types of helical springs with circular, square and rectangular cross section.

Applications of Additive Technologies in Realization of Customized Dental Prostheses

Edgar Moraru; Daniel Besnea; Octavian Dontu; Gheorghe Gheorghe; Victor Constantin

The paper presents 3D DLP (Digital Light Processing) digital printing technology, which belongs to the additive technology category using liquid raw material allowing the obtaining of dental prostheses with complex and detailed geometry, fine and precise printed surfaces, fairly resistant dental crowns, with a variety of resins, including biomedical materials (certified for medical use), characterized by high print speed and productivity for complex geometries and high productivity with numerous applications in the medical field. In the paper, a prototype of a dental bridge was made using 3D DLP printing technology, which can serve as a model for future dental restorations.

Applications of Additive Technologies in the Food Industry

Daniel Besnea; Octavian Dontu; Victor Constantin; Alina Spanu; Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Edgar Moraru

The article presents a new concept that can be used in the food industry by manufacturing customized food products with 3D printers. This technique allows the production of personalized food products both as shape, colour, aroma and even as a nutritional value. Applications in the food industry can offer an engineering solution for new products and a tool for design specialists by creating food products with complex shapes that cannot be obtained by classical processes. Also, this technology can be a solution for researchers exploring cosmic space and long-distance space missions.

Research Regarding the Design of a Closed-Loop Pneumatic Positioning System Without Using Proportional Equipment

Mihai Avram; Victor Constantin; Amza Meral

The paper shows the design, manufacturing and testing of a new type of closed-loop pneumatic positioning system. The design is comprised solely of on/off equipment, which ensures overall low cost. Exhaust flow control and thus speed control for both directions of movement is done by means of several groups of way valves. This ensures that the system can obtain different speeds. Maximum speed is obtained when all of the way valves are open and minimum speed is obtained by using only one way valve. The last version is used close to the desired position to ensure the low speed needed to obtain precision. System control is done by means of a microcontroller that stores and executes the working programs.

Mechatronic System for Solar Energy Acquisition

Besnea Daniel; Octavian Donţu; Gheorghe Gheorghe; Victor Constantin; Spanu Alina

The paper presents the mechatronic system for solar energy acquisition for using the system fed on. The mechatronic system with two independent movements affords the high accuracy positioning along the two axes for an optic beam narrowing having the main role of focusing the solar energy. The mathematical model and the design of its components are made by using Delphi. The control of mechatronic system with movements along the two axes, which are azimuth and elevation, has been done with microcontroller.

Study Concerning a Robotic System with Matlab/OpenCV Post-processing

Victor Constantin; Ciprian Ion Rizescu; Mihai Ciocan; Dana Rizescu

The paper presents the construction and operating mode of a platform for controlling mobile robots. A number of, at least, three independent mobile robots, who are to be entrusted with the supervision of the zones, will report via a 4G transmission, with a certain frequency of a central server the current position in the geographical coordinates. Latitude and longitude will be accompanied by photos received from a high-resolution camera and these images will be processed with a certain target for identifying an object with certain features. The system will be built around a hardware architecture open-source (for example Atmel, Raspberry PI). Another target of this paper is to present an example where we are going to examine an image processing and text extraction system that will compare an implementation done using the OpenImaj SWT algorithm and the Tesseract OCR compared to a implementation done in Matlab based on MSER. These services can then be called through a restful Web Service by any application, mobile or otherwise to extract text from images.

Evaluations and geometrical measurements of the human eye in order to establish the design parameters for the customized contact lens

A T Pascu; Daniel Besnea; Victor Constantin; Alina Spanu; Robert Ciobanu

The paper presents the usual methods and means for geometrical evaluation and measurement for the anterior pole of the eyeball applied in studies conducted on real patients. The results were centralized, evaluated and presented in a summary in the paper. The purpose of the studies is to determine the range of dimensional values of the anterior pole of the human eyeball for the parameterization of the devices and checking tools when manufacturing the contact lenses.

Hydraulic Positioning Unit with Internal Mechanical Position Feedback

Mihai Avram; Constantin Bucşan; Despina Duminică; Victor Constantin

The paper presents the actual stage of hydraulic positioning units with external mechanical position feedback and proposes an original design of a hydraulic positioning unit with internal mechanical position feedback, developed by the authors. The design of the positioning unit is discussed in order to obtain a compact system with low sizes, the built experimental model is described and some results of a first set of experimental tests are presented.
