This paper aimed to identify instances of the use of data from the Primary Health Care Information System in the existing scientific literature. This study is an Integrative Literature Review and the search for articles was performed in May, 2013 in the Virtual Healthcare Library (MedLine, Lilacs and SciELO), considering publications from 2008 to 2012. The search for articles initially located 164 texts, though after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, this review concentrated on 12 articles. The main results showed that there are fragilities like the use of the form just for the record and the insufficient training of the teams. However, the positive aspect is that the Primary Health Care Information System is the leading source of health information and statistics, and that its information can and must be used for health planning activities. Thus, it is an information system that assists municipal management and the actions in health of its teams, alerting the community to the need for care of individual health.

The inflammation is a response to acute tissue injury responsible for producing characteristic symptoms that lead to changes in tissue homeostasis and blood flow, as a defense mechanism of the immune system. However, chronic inflammation is a cause of many diseases like cancer, arteriosclerosis, diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases. Most anti-inflammatory drugs exert significant side effects that may limit their use. An alternative to such drugs are the medicinal plants, which provide an important approach for the identification of bioactive compounds. This systematic review aimed to quantify the clinical studies that relate therapeutic potential for inflammatory diseases from the study of plants RENISUS, published between 2010 and February 2013 in three scientific databases (SciELO, Science Direct and Springer). Of the 21 357 articles found in databases, analysis of articles was originally made from the title of journal reading, the chosen articles were subsequently assessed for Abstract. Finally, Articles chosen at this stage, the full text was analyzed. This analysis resulted in the selection of 44 studies of interest, which dealt with 20 different plants RENISUS.

Even with long‑term glycemic control, diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2) remains the predominant cause of diabetic neuropathy. Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) C936T of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene and the SNP C242T of the p22phox (CYBA) gene have been investigated in relation to DM2 and its complications. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between these two SNPs and DM2, and also between the SNPs and the signs and symptoms of diabetic distal polyneuropathy. The DM2 group consisted of 98 individuals and the control group consisted of 104 individuals. The results demonstrated that there was no association between the different genotypes or alleles and increased risk of the disease (P>0.05). With SNP C242T, a significant association with body mass index between the CTxTT genotypes (P=0.043) was identified; and the greatest body mass indexes were among individuals with the TT genotype. An association between the degree of neuropathic symptoms and genotypic/allelic distribution of these polymorphisms was not observed. In conclusion, the investigated polymorphisms are not correlated with the risk of developing DM2.

The boar in semen collection routine has a different nutritional demand in comparison to swine in weight gain. The maintenance of spermatogenesis needs a higher energy and protein intake, as well macro and micro elements have limiting effects. Despite all nutritional supplementation products for boars, there are few data available about its effects on seminal parameters of boars with low productivity of doses for artificial insemination. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of a nutritional supplementation on sperm quality of boars with low productivity of doses. Twenty eight breeding Landrace boars with average age of 25.28 (4.04) years and a mean weight of 300 kg were used. Animals were fed with 500g/day of a commercial nutritional supplementation, together with ration. A total of 199 ejaculates were analyzed in pre-supplementation period, and 215 ejaculates were accessed after 1 month of supplementation. The seminal parameters evaluated were: volume, sperm concentration, motility, vigor and agglutination. t-test was used to compare the means in pre and post-supplementation periods. It was observed a significant increase in ejaculate volume (p = 0.04), concentration (p = 0.03), agglutination (p = 0.002) and motility (p = 0.007). Vigor had no significant variation (p = 0.38). The average doses produced before supplementation was 23.58 (5.50), rising to 28.40 (6.27) after supplementation, showing the increased profitability with the inclusion of nutritional supplements in the diet.

Cristian Mateus Zerwes; Claudete Rempel; Janaína Kollet Schneider; Leila Teresinha Maranho

The Seasonal Deciduous Forest (FED) is a deciduous and human-caused impacted vegetation, occurring at the Upper Rio Uruguay basin and at the southern slope of Serra Geral plateau, Rio Grande do Sul state. The aim of this study is to compile results of tree layer floristics and phytosociological surveys on FED of Serra Geral escarpment with the intention of supporting future interventions for the recovery of degraded areas and sustainable management projects. To obtain the data, was held a narrative review from 62 selected works from the digital libraries of CAPES, Scielo and Google Scholar. For quantitative variables, was calculated the median, standard deviation and amplitude. The hodgepodge of methods used in the surveys conducts to difficulties in comparing data. The median species richness is 54 and the Shannon-Wiener diversity index median is 3.10 nats. The analyzed surveys show very important information to define methods and planning for conservation, degraded area recovery and sustainable use of forest resources.
