O estudo investigou a percepcao de alunos do Ensino Medio quanto a utilizacao, por seu professor de Matematica, de praticas docentes favoraveis ao desenvolvimento da criatividade e motivacao em Matematica. Participaram do estudo 396 alunos, os quais responderam ao Inventario de Praticas Docentes para a Criatividade e a Escala de Motivacao em Matematica. Diferencas significativas foram observadas entre alunos de escola publica e particular na percepcao das praticas docentes promotoras da criatividade, utilizadas por seu professor, e em motivacao em Matematica, a favor dos alunos da escola particular. Observou-se ainda relacao significativa entre a percepcao dos alunos quanto ao uso de estrategias em sala de aula para desenvolver a criatividade por seu professor de Matematica e motivacao do aluno em Matematica, entre motivacao em Matematica e rendimento academico nessa disciplina e entre a percepcao pelo aluno de praticas pedagogicas para a criatividade e seu rendimento em Matematica.

O estudo investiga a perspectiva de adolescentes e jovens acerca de suas concepcoes de saude e doenca mental. Compreende-se que o processo de construcao da saude-doenca e influenciado pela perspectiva individual, familiar e sociocultural. Participaram do estudo 1163 jovens de ambos os sexos, com idade media de 15,84 anos. Utilizou-se como instrumento um questionario autoaplicavel, formulado em estudo anterior com jovens suicos de lingua portuguesa. Investigaram-se as concepcoes de saude e doenca mental, dentre outros aspectos do tema. Nos resultados, observaram-se aspectos da visao holistica e do modelo tradicional de saude mental. A doenca mental foi caracterizada como uma desordem emocional, revelando a influencia das experiencias internas e relacionais na concepcao de adoecimento mental. Diferencas de nivel socioeconomico foram observadas nas concepcoes de saude e doenca mental.

INTRODUCTION The Clinical Outcome in Routine Evaluation - Outcome Measurement (CORE-OM) was developed in the 1990s, with the aim of assessing the efficacy and effectiveness of mental health treatments. OBJECTIVE To adapt the CORE-OM for use in the Brazilian population. METHOD The instrument was translated and adapted based on the international protocol developed by the CORE System Trust which contains seven steps: translation, semantic equivalence analysis, synthesis of the translated versions, pre-testing in the target population, data analysis and back translation. RESULTS After semantic analysis, modifications were necessary in seven of the 34 original items. Changes were made to avoid repetition of words and the use of terms difficult to understand. Internal consistency analysis showed evidence of score stability in the CORE-OM adapted to Brazilian Portuguese. CONCLUSION The instrument was successfully adapted to Brazilian Portuguese, and its semantic and conceptual properties were equivalent to those of the original instrument.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to relate the phenomenon of migration to the Federal District (DF, Brazil), with the figures for institutional shelter of children and adolescents. Design/methodology/approach The method chosen was the documental analysis of special folders that were processed in the Defense Office for Children and Adolescents of the DF from January 2007 to August 2009. The sample consisted of 545 special folders, referring to a total of 1,007 children and adolescents. Findings The results indicate that most children and adolescents received at the shelters were from families living in the satellite cities of the DF (53.4 percent) and surroundings (8.3 percent), and were mainly from rural areas of the Northeast region of the country and also from the deprived areas of the states of Goias and Minas Gerais, near the DF. Among the main reasons for institutional shelter, is violence, abandonment by family, poverty and living on the streets. Research limitations/implications It can be inferred that the policies of “population clusters” in the DF were responsible for this migratory process and population growth of satellite cities and surrounding areas. It is understood in this way that the migration processes resulted in the rupture of the bond with the family of origin and an insertion into a reality, which again challenge these families in a situation of poverty and violence. Social implications The reality of vulnerability and social exclusion of migrant families who leave their support networks in their home states need urgent attention of local public policies, especially with regard to encouraging the construction of other support networks and creating contexts of cultural identification in the communities, especially the neediest. The support and presence of quality public services in these communities and the preventive action of social policies are also considered essential to ensure quality of life and adequate subsistence to the people who migrate to the DF. Originality/value Brasilia became the symbol of hope for unemployed people or for those suffering from their income being below the poverty level. Faced with this migratory reality, this paper discusses the situation of families of children and adolescents institutionally sheltered in the DF, given their social situation regarding poverty, unemployment, lack of support from their family of origin and lack of access of distribution of public policies and income generation.

The present study investigated the perception of young Brazilians of professional help and barriers to seeking mental health services. A total of the 1,030 questionnaires were administered to young people aged 8-21 years of both genders attending public and private school or who had received or were receiving treatement at mental health facilities in three Brazilian cities. The data were evaluated using descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, and comparison between means. The results showed fear of stigmatization as a major barrier to seeking mental health treatment, exerting greater impact than that of structural barriers. Regional differences influenced their perception of the treatment. Having undergone previous mental health treatment was found to be related to a greater perception of the positive effects of the treatment and the structural barriers to accessing care services. It was found that the onset of mental disorders usually occurs during early adolescence. School-related issues, anxiety, fear, and depression were the most common reasons for mental health treatment seeking among young people.
