Aim: To describe the point of view of nurses regarding the moment of death in the process of organ donation in an intensive care unit of a transplant hospital. Method: This is a descriptive, qualitative study, performed with fifteen nurses working in intensive care. Alceste software was used to treat the data collected, which identified the category “ontological dimension of caring due to the moment of death in the process of organ donation and harvesting”. Results: During their practice nurses experience a dialectic relationship between the act of donation and facing death through the nursing care provided to the potential donor and his family. Discussion: The process of dying comes up against on a daily basis, when nurses have to deal with the unknown, and face the daily fear of fighting against the possibility of death. Conclusion: There is a need to rethink/review standards, to reconsider the educational background of nursing staff, and to demystify institutional truths when dealing with the unknown.

Aim: To describe the case of a patient with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing cannulation of arteriovenous fistulas by the buttonhole technique for hemodialysis treatment, and comparing it to cases submitted to the conventional technique. Method: A case study of an adult male patient carrying CKD, held in the Dialysis Center of Sao Goncalo / RJ between March and May 2014, whose analysis was based on the literature. Results: We observed no complications three months after cannulation by buttonhole; the patient reported reduction in pain during the procedure; the limb with the fistula remained aesthetically intact. Discussion: Results of comparative studies of the two techniques are shown to be different, although they point to major benefits of the buttonhole technique: decreased pain, extended life of the AVF, reduction of bleeding and bruising. Conclusion: The buttonhole technique can be useful for new vascular access and hypersensitive patients.

Objectives To identify what are the difficulties of the nursing staff in the management of technologies during intravenous therapy (IVT) and discuss the difficulties identified under the perspective of patients safety. Method Descriptive study of qualitative approach with data collected by semi-structured interview and analyzed by the Alceste software. Results The greatest difficulty of cognitive and technical emphasis was the lack of training; and regarding administrative emphasis, the greatest difficulty was the lack of material and human resources. Infusion pumps and their proper use were highlighted as the technological resource that most contributed to patient safety. Final considerations The lack of training is presented as the greatest difficulty of nursing professionals and permeates safety issues of both patient and professional when using the hard technologies in IVT. Training is essential to the development of techniques, considered nursing tools.

English/Portuguese J Nurs UFPE on line., Recife, 7(spe):7107-17, Dec., 2013 7108 DOI: 10.5205/reuol.4767-42136-1-ED.0712esp201319 ISSN: 1981-8963 One of the health problems of women today in the world is breast cancer, which involves preventive and curative measures. In 2012, were expected for Brazil, 52.680 new cases of breast cancer, with an estimated risk of 52 cases per 100 000 women. The assistance to women with breast cancer requires technical skill and scientific updated, in order to recover the health of the client. For the treatment and care remain therapeutic relationship is necessary and seizure effective health education activities performed by nurses and staff. As indeed there is a responsibility to the full recovery of the client relationship and to assist her in coping with the disease and its consequences. A mastectomy is a surgical procedure that brings aggressive consequences traumatic experiences in the life and health of women. The body schema is modified by changing the way you feel and experience the body. The breast since adolescence is a striking component of femininity; it represents part of the body image, sexually, and fulfills the role of breastfeeding. The nurse should value the concerns, expectations, perceptions, knowledge and experiences presented by these women after surgery seeking to improve the dialogical process in health education, promoting selfcare and empowerment of women after mastectomy. Sees the need to change the perspective of education is central to insert the patient, restoring it to a conscious life and participatory for the realization of self-care. The union of knowledge is a process of dynamic and individualized care where the caregivers knowledge and be careful, in this case, women with mastectomies, are extremely important and together constitute the process. The change of perspective in thinking and doing nursing in the field of popular health education adds their educational role to the rescue of the person as a citizen, participatory and aware of their condition of life. This implies proposed action oriented dialogue merged practices and knowledge that results from it. The inclusion of social practice enables formal contents; fixed and abstract contents are transformed into real, dynamic and concrete where the professional must have the ability to incorporate new knowledge, skills, ethical commitments, social and citizenship. In health, the educational process is much more than the simple act of teaching. The patient who much of the time, the wrong way is termed as individual liability is a key part in the care process, since we now know that the health care process is dynamic and requires participation of both parties, whether or caregiver patient. It is understood that this is potentially creative and sensitive and that the process of educating caring occurs in a bilateral relationship and truly human. It is recommended the adoption of new behaviors, whereas in the educational process dealing with life stories, a set of beliefs and values, and the very subjectivity of the subject that requires sustained solutions socio culturally. And that, in most cases, do not take this into account. This change will only be realized when a change marks of knowledge is not immediate. It will happen in continuous processes, the exchange of knowledge, in which there will be more knowledge of the professional nurse and the knowledge of the patient, but the construction of new knowledge. Its the real learning that students are transformed into actual subjects in the construction and reconstruction of knowledge taught alongside the educator also subject of the process. This knowledge involves the integration of theory and practice of health professionals, here, in particular nurses, who must provide the human being an education geared to your daily life, based on a proposal of care that emphasizes the promotion, prevention or health recovery. The dialogue of the nurse in the context of health education advertises a speech processor, mediated by the participation of the subject patient in an active, critical and questioning and not for participation by extension. The qualitative improvement of services offered, the democratization of knowledge, the use of technology and peoples participation in the definition of health problems, the choice of priorities and strategies to be implemented through health programs, are guiding ideas of the new health philosophy. By associating care and education there is the possibility of conversion and diversification of knowledge, in which they can be constructed, deconstructed and tailored to individual needs and collective. To perform this task, it is necessary to have the confidence to believe the guidance offered by professional and also so that the patient feels the urge to show their needs, as when the patient realizes that his knowledge, his history, not was ignored, but it transformed into a knowledge based on scientific studies, he feels valued and starts INTRODUCTION Bordallo FR, Teixeira ER, Silvino ZR et al. Historic-social study about political student representation in the professional formation, with the purpose of perceiving the motivation of Nursing academics towards the political representation, the contributions to professional life, as well as the political and historical milestones that underlie the political action. The descriptive-type study was carried out in the Aurora de Afonso Costa Nursing School, with Nursing academics that participated as effective members of the Student Union, from 1998 to 2004. The thematic oral history was used as the research methodology. The insertion in the student movement is based on the desire for transformations of educational and political representation conditions. This militancy is characterized by difficulties – as the lack of support and institutional and Nursing students participation in the collective interest issues, participations and contributions to the personal and professional formation. Student Policy encompasses philosophy and fight for students rights and carries out efforts. It means to become a critical, reflective citizen able to produce transformations. The political action is anchored in the vision of the world, with left-leaning,socialist and familiar formation influences. It means acting with emotion, sense and sensibility.
